SAM AND HIS MILLIONS

Mon Aug 02, 2010 8:40 pm

So I see it mentioned on here that Sam Hammam, when asked by TG, could not come up with £12million that he alledgedly says he has to invest. It is very true that Sam has not come up with the readies as Sam has not been asked by TG or anybody else for that matter to show the colour of his money.

We all know that TG and Sam met and money was discussed during the meeting along with other items but the only money discussed was regarding the structure of the payment to Langston. As I have said on here before Langston have an agreement that says the club can pay Langston off by the end of this year to the tune of £10million but if it is not settled then the amount reverts back to the original loan note of £24million.

Whether Sam Hammam has £12million to put in to the club is for Sam Hammam to know and until he is asked about it then that is how it will stay. I understand that TG is looking for a business partner to come on board with him and there are interested people, one of which is Sam, but as I have said before Sam Hammam is confident that the Langston debt has to be dealt with by the end of the year for the good of the club, one way or another.

Aside from Hammam Carl, any idea of who any of the other interested people joining the Malaysians are ?

Re: SAM AND HIS MILLIONS

I am neither a Sam Hammam hater or lover, but just because any investor has £12m to invest into a struggling club, it doesnt mean that they are the right person to bring onboard. I sincerely hope the Malaysians chose wisely if it comes to chosing a business partner, and I will back their decision 100%. :ayatollah:

This £12million figure has always confused me. If we owe Sam or Langston £10million at the moment then is he trying to get back by turning the debt into shares and bringing another 2mill? :?:

Wayne, the £12million people speak of is nothing to do with the Langston loan note.

Carl

The problem I have with Sam is his well documented track record in the past of promising funds or boasting of their availabilty and then not being able to deliver when asked for evidence.Examples appear in publicly available documents from both Merton Council (from his Wimbledon deals) and Cardiff County Council (re the new stadium funding).

Based on the above , I tend to doubt him when he says he wasn`t asked to produce evidence of the funds being there for any possible investment. Especially as at least one person who was at the meeting on behalf of the club was fully aware of the debacle that was Ben Steele and his claims to funding availabilty.

It may be that I am being unduly harsh on Sam , but it is for the above reasons. Its a bit like the story of the boy who cried wolf (for those who are familiar with it). After establishing a record of not telling the truth , even when the truth is told on a later occasion , people don`t tend to believe it.

It is normal business practice for a potential investor of several millions of pounds to volunteer evidence of its availability rather than wait to be asked.

what i dont get is why is TG looking for a partner if he already has one who is minted in VT. A 10 or 20 million investment could well see us promoted (i reckon it would for most clubs in this league mind as its always tight), no outstanding team or teams this season I'd say. If TG is looking for a football man then Sam could be the man, as long as he stays away from the finance side which i am sure he would then why not? No more langston debt? Pay off PMG (the leeches) and we may start to progress....be a right shame for this season to be a nothing season, which lets face it, its looking like.

I'm confused as to how "THE MALAYSIANS WILL DECIDE" when they are minority, albeit large, shareholders?

Re: SAM AND HIS MILLIONS

Well we all read it in the Echo quoted by those who went to meet him " Sam has millions to invest" " Sam has 12 million to put into the Club" i'm sure TG was informed or read what was  printed.

Question to you Carl were those quotes correct?

Cant see how they will be the ones to decide. Especically as from what I've heard VT is no longer interested in the project. Looks that way too , less than a week to go and still under embargo etc with a wafer thin squad.

Is that why TG is seeking new partners?

Daya I was not quoted in the Echo nor did I read the quotes, but I have to believe those quotes are in there otherwise you would not mention them but who are the quotes from ?

Equally that still does not mean that Sam Hammam has told TG or anybody else for that matter that he has £12million to invest. Dont want to sound upitty ( sp ) but I dont believe that this figure was mentioned between Sam and TG.

So who has said Sam has got 12m to spend? I never seen anyone quoted saying he does just debate about if he has it or not lol

VT no longer interested hey? was just in it for the quick buck then if we won the playoff?
I guess we are phucked then as no one else has a pot to piss in, and if they did it would some how cost us another 5 million pound player whilst lining the pockets of pmg.....and we'd still be in huge debt. The sooner we have admin the better. :(

Hi Carl,

Hope you well mate, those were the figures quoted in the Echo after the London meeting with supporters , I think you went didnt you? anyway thats what the echo took quotes as the figure available, I dont have a copy in front of me but maybe youcould have a look through media wales etc.

As for what goes on between Sam and Tg, and whats said/not said, I doubt none of us mere mortals will know exactly what is/was/what ever said.

Goats,

I dont think he was massively interested in the first place but was persueded by TG prior to the play off final, his actions of late are hardly like any other billionaire with a large interest in taking a football club forward, compared to others in the game. Just a feeling and i hope i'm wrong but the actions so far would lead you to believe that his heart is in fully running a football club especially in the Championship.

You are right Steve I was one of the fans that were fortunate enough to go to Sam's home and have a meeting. With regards to the figure quoted in the Echo I would not deny that but as I have not seen it I dont know who is quoted as saying it but I certainly hope it is not me as I have not spoken with anyone about that meeting. Re your point about the meeting between Sam and TG I totally agree that we do not know what was said in that meeting that is why I am surprised at TG alledgedly claiming that Sam has not shown evidence of the money when asked, how would that information get out ?

Sorry daya I meant who were re quotes from. Seems a lot of hear'say on that 12m to me especially if it wasn't mentioned at the meeting.

I cant recall the actual person quoted will have a look on media wales in a bit . But it was defo quoted .

As for the rest as you probably know yourself, with the current boardroom split, theres one hell of chitter chatter going on at present, thats why im glad you only put " exclusive" to facts. :ayatollah:
