Cardiff City injury bulletin: Neil Warnock issues hugely positive updates on Callum Paterson, Lee Camp and Matt Connolly :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Friday 8th September 2017

Neil Warnock has confirmed that Lee Camp and Callum Paterson are back in training, adding that the duo are both set to play for the club's Under-23 side in the coming weeks as they step up their recoveries from injury.

Full-back Paterson and goalkeeper Camp have both been unavailable since joining the Bluebirds from Hearts and Rotherham respectively in the summer through injury.

But the veteran boss revealed the new recruits are edging ever closer to making their Cardiff debuts.

"I went in the physio room and I said 'you guys will be unemployed soon'," said Warnock.

"Paterson and Camp are both training with us now in the practice games, I can't remember which one now, one’s going to have half a game in the Under-23s next week, I think that's Paterson, and then I think Camp is planning to have half a game probably the week after.

"We'll step Paterson up for probably two or three Under-23 games.

"I can’t envisage him coming back until October (Paterson) but they’re both really good players who can play a big part in what we want to do this season."

Centre-back Matt Connolly missed the opening few games of the new campaign but featured for the first time this season in the 2-1 EFL Cup second round defeat at home to Burton.

But Warnock has revealed that the 29-year-old is available for selection, meaning that long-term absentees Kadeem Harris and Rhys Healey are the only two players currently on the treatment table.

"Matt Connolly is fit, he’s Mr Reliable," added Warnock.

"He's fit and raring to go. You’ll always lose Matt for five or six games with his ankles, I had the same at QPR with him, I'm afraid he’s got ankles like pieces of paper at times.

Neil Etheridge, Lee Camp and Brian Murphy will all vie for the Cardiff City No.1 shirt
"Kadeem is doing very well, the medics are really happy with him. He’s still got the brace on his leg but I think he has that off next week if I'm not mistaken.

"So when I go into rehabilitation into the gym, it's only Kadeem and poor Rhys (Healey) with their names on the seats, and long may it continue.

"There's nothing a manager likes more than a fit squad. Even if it brings you more problems with selection, it's great to see everybody fit and raring to go."
