Police search for Newcastle United fan after racist comments at Cardiff City match
By Debra Fox

Tuesday 5th September 2017

Officers investigating racial abuse at a Newcastle United away match are looking to speak to a football fan regarding the incident. Police are looking into racist comments made during Newcastle United's away match with Cardiff City that took place on April 28 2017.

The comments were made against a Cardiff City player.

The man responsible was reported by another NUFC fan and pointed out.

The was ejected from the stadium by stewards. He provided his details to officers on duty at the time but it later emerged that those details were fake. Inquiries to identify him are ongoing but police are now releasing an image of a man they need to speak to about the incident.

If he was racist, I don't care what you want to call it. He should be reported.

Already more police time used than when 1,400 girls were raped in Rotherham. For the sake of football fans everywhere please shut your mouths and stop grassing

What he said!!!

"for the sake of football fans everywhere" ???

So, racist comments are acceptable? Where do you draw the line...abh, gbh, rape???

Whether he is a football fan or not is immaterial, if he's made a racist comment then he needs to face the consequences of his actions, and be tried to clarify whether he is guilty or not.

So someone witnessed a crime and reported it and some on here think the witness is a grass.
For heavens sake. A crime is a crime.
Well done for reporting it I say.

all the hang them high brigade are out in force again..its an ..ALLEGED CRIME...
the young lad got thrown out...seemingly on the word of another fan, stewards and police at the time thought throwing him out and taking a name was sufficient..
now all of a sudden he is Richard Kimble.
if the ALLEGED crime took place, the chances of this leading to a conviction id say are very slim...word of mouth in what one person heard in a noisy stadium...eg how many fans have thought we were singing you black instead of you jack..?
what a waste of police resources.
britains most wanted...rape gangs..terrorists..nope....some 12 year old..ffs

Well hasn't it occurred to you yet that if he was grassed up it would be by one of your own and not the opposing teams fan.Not too bright are you.

Alleged or not if he is found and questioned about it then it should put him off saying anything (ALLEGEDLY) racist again.
That can only be a good thing can't it?

I guess it's because the police need to gather evidence first. Strangely neither the journalist who wrote the piece, nor the op have used the word 'alleged' - only you have, so I'm guessing there's enough evidence to press charges.

Either way he faces a charge of giving false details

If he is guilty - not saying he is either way - good point was made about us being called racist when we chant you Jack Bastards - didn't someone on Sky comment on it during our premier league shambles? Also what is the definition of racists - if it's something genuinely offensive like calling someone a Nigger or a black b*stard fair enough. If he's called us a bunch of sheep shagging bastards - I've seen people try and say that's racist but it's not really is it, is calling an Irishman Paddy racist or a scotsman Jock - you get the point...

But lets just say he said something genuinely racists and offensive - still why do the police need to be involved?

The guy that pointed him out to the stewards had every right to do so, if he doesn't want to be hearing racist language at a game where he has paid to be.

The club have every right to ban him if they don't want that type of language being used on their property. In fact, I applaud both of those actions.

But I just don't agree with wasting the polices time with the little shit.

If he wants to walk around being a little racist prick all his life then let Karma come along and bite him on the arse in it's own good time.

I don't like racists, but I don't need a nanny state to protect me from them either.I don't need to live in a world sanitised of all bad things to make me feel safe. Some parts of life are just crap, some people in life are just crap, but hey you take the rough with the smooth or at least we used.

Seriously, when the f**k are the people of this country just going to grow a pair and deal with inadequate little nob ends like this in the way we should do - either ignore the little shit because he is just that and not worth bothering about or if he picks the wrong fight let him take the beating he deserves.

Should absolutely not be a police matter.

So he shouted a reported racist word! shame the city player didn't hear it to report him ? Throwing him out ground should been enough as obviously at time it wasnt deemed serious enough to arrest him or they would have. Now its just waste of police time as surely it can't be proven what he said?

Why is the OP wrong? :?

It clearly states (quote): "Officers investigating racial abuse at a Newcastle United away match are looking to speak to a football fan regarding the incident. Police are looking into racist comments made during Newcastle United's away match with Cardiff City that took place on April 28 2017"

Seems pretty clear to me but I think you've got a little too involved with your own opinion on the matter rather than the facts as they stand. No one has said he is guilty but there seems to be a mix of reaction as to whether the police are right to (at least) investigate the matter ;)

It is unlikely that much will come from it because it is one persons word against another and to some extent giving the wrong details to police could be the thing he is actually 'done' for (probably a 'Police Caution' at best) but even if him being spoken to results in him not doing the same again it will be an exercise worth while, as well as a message to others who feel it is okay to do the same

We now live in a diverse country and (like it or not) we have to start accepting it. There is nowhere like football that has a more diverse range of people within its ranks. Every club has 'star' players that are of different heritage and for any football fan to start hurling racial abuse/comments to another teams player(s) is in reality to offend their own, which appears to have happened on that particular day! :(

I didn't write the OP, I only posted it but I would suggest the Stewards on duty wouldn't have removed him and passed to police without some reason, so it could be either 'alleged' or 'guilty' depending on what he actually admitted at the time ;)

No sermon. Just having my say on the thread after some surprising responses from some :ayatollah:

No, it isn't.

And some people think racism is a much worse crime than rape. Priorities comes to mind. There are small minded people that shout racist crap at the footy and that makes them sad and dickheads. Dosen't make them a criminal to many people offended by anything these days.

No, it isn't.

In a world obsessed with identity politics and claiming victimhood yes it very much is.

Perfect example look at the dinner lady who got suspended from her job because she went on the UK Against Hate march and her employers suspended her because they incorrectly thought it was an EDL march, from which they incorrectly inferred she was a racist and so they suspended her without pay. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-la ... e-40531321

I'm not saying this is or isn't the case in this instance, but WelshPatriot is absolutely correct when he says people are far to quick to throw such words around and when an accusation of being racist can lead to huge social stigmas including the possible loss of work it is just as serious as calling someone a racist name which whilst not nice is only going to cause upset not have any other impact on your life.
