How do we do it?
It should be noted that for a few reasons a Cardiff match day and an International is un comparable e.g. the game is more of an occasion, night game, there is a superstar on the pitch and stadium is filled.
But, it should be noted that only a short time ago Wales got a similar gate to that of a Cardiff cup game against a lower league side. Success brings fans and I don't have a problem with that as it generates nights like last night. But Cardiff are top of the league so shouldn't our success bring more City fans?
Many of the Welsh fans in the stadium last night would've also been City fans. So, how can we make match days like the bear pit the stadium was last night?
Discuss.

At the QPR home game I was shocked at the lack of atmosphere in the first-half.
City came out to a mediocre applause and hardly any signing, yet we are top of the Championship.
I really thought the stadium would be bouncing.
Yes it improved in the second-half but we were then on our way to another great win.
The football, enertainment is excellent, what more can City fans ask for?

Sadly, been like that for some time! It seems to take the team itself to 'spark' the fans into life (maybe even going behind) when it should really be the other way around!
City are currently in their best position EVER for a season's start and the fans need to make the superbly performing players feel they are behind them by creating an atmosphere from the start!

Basically I myself can't wait for all the glory hunters to come back.

You're right, Annis. It can be shocking when the away supporters are laughing at our 'home' support, yet it is so different when we are away, so is that a coincidence?
At Fulham on Saturday not missed a game so far this season) and defo see you at the Derby game!

An easy fix would have been to reduce ticket prices.
We get say 20,000 average attendance now with the average price of £18 a game equals £360,000 a game. The club hope successs will lead to improved attendances and more money.
What we should have Donegal is drop it down to £15 for grandstand and £10 fo all other areas and kids half price. At those prices you would hope we would sell 33,000 ticket which would bring in similar revenue. Increase in stewarding and match day costs paid for match day food and drink increases.
With that crowd teams would be intimidated and we would pick up more points.

History shows that doesn't necessarily work but (as a test) let's see the crowd we get when tickets for 'guests' are reduced versus Dirty Leeds on a Tuesday night

Okay, so here's a few ideas:
1. A lot of people are under the stadium until just before kick off. Nothing wrong with that, catching up with mates, having a beer/coffee, etc. Inside the stadium is dead. SO, STOP SELLING EVERYTHING half an hour before kick off. More people will be inside the stadium and hopefully up for contributing towards the atmosphere. It would take a while but majority of supporters would get it.
2. Stop playing the ****ing music half an hour before kick off. Let the fans generate their own 'atmosphere', OR employ an announcer who is good at ramping up the crowd.
3. Have a song writing competition, with the winning song writer getting a decent prize (own thoughts in here) and the words put on the big screen. Someone with a good voice & banter to lead the crowd from on the pitch. Do this for a few weeks so everyone learns it. The more original/inspiring, etc, the better.
4. It's been said lots of times but I'll say it again A SAFE STANDING AREA would be awesome. Ideally put Family Section into Canton Stand and Safe Standing where Family Section is
5. Vincent, please pay for BLUE FLAGS for everyone. Put them back at the end of the match and recycle for the next home game. I know some would be taken home/broken but they could be replaced each time.
6. Massive Cardiff City flag for the new safe standing area.

We've tried flags. We've tried drums.
The only two significant things that will work are swapping canton with the Grange and a longer stint of success.
But let's not forget, our attendances under malky were very high expecially in our promotion season yet for the majority of games the atmosphere was dreadful.

biggest problem in my eyes is that with capacity being 33,000 now then getting 16-20,000 still makes ground seem half empty. Wales games are always packed to the hilt. Think fans are starting to filter back, as gates defo 'look' more than last year but gonna take time to fill it out.
Simple suggestion would be to give schools free tickets for grandstand, family and top stand every week if sales looking slow. You could alternate areas such as Llanrumney schools one week, ely next, rhondda next etc and try and build crowds that way. I would rather see the seat filled for free than left empty, even if I bought my season ticket. Hopefully by end of season we may not need any freebies as people have picked up the bug ( or jumped back on the bandwagon), but either way would look and feel better.

I've been going since 1962 and believe me there is nothing wrong with the atmosphere this season at the stadium why the negativity or am I missing another agenda here

I've started meeting up with some mates in the Canton Hotel at 1pm before home games for a Cardiff City singalong inspired by the juke box and a few beers. We're growing in numbers slowly and the place was absolutely bouncing before the QPR game. If this sort of thing could be done on mass, I think the feel good factor would transfer to the stadium, thus improving the atmosphere dramatically.
If anyone's interested, you're more than welcome to join us before the Sheffield Wednesday fixture.

I loved the atmosphere last night and previous internationals where the whole stadium is bouncing. Atmospheres like Cardiff v man city, crystal palace in the cup, play off semi final against Leicester a few years back are for me the ultimate Cardiff atmospheres but they only occur on the big occasions just like the Wales games. That said I believe we can improve our atmosphere and get the stadium noisier than it is now. We need all the stands to get involved, not just the very vocal entire Canton stand and a few isolated areas of the stadium, but the who,e stadium needs to join in. Don't get me wrong I know there's fans who sing and chant in other stands but it's just a few here and there. Communication between the stands is usually very effective! A few clubs already do this. it doesn't really matter what you chant to each other but it needs to be back and forth over a few minutes. We're the grand, we're the grand, we're the grandstand Cardiff city, ....the ninian then reply with...we're the ninian, we're the Ninian, we're the ninian Cardiff city! And then back and forth! It works with some other clubs and remember when Arsenal did it in the PL. all in all I think we need to get every stand singing. I know that whatever happens some people just won't sing and chant but if we can increase this it may help. Just a sugestion! For me personally I'd also like to see more songs about our players. I know there are a few goi g around at the moment but IMO we need really catchy simple chants.
Used to love what's that coming over the Hill etc etc

we simply need more nutters down the game an less of a presence from pressurising stewards and police it puts people off from having a laugh and singing when we have them telling us to behave like rugby fans, maybe we should try getting all the city fans together before the games at a meet up point an start the buzz from their as we walk into the stadium
Sun Sep 03, 2017 6:49 pm
One thing I noticed watching the game last night was that they played in red. Maybe we should give it a go. Lol
Fair play it sounded amazing on TV. Imagine if we could fill the stadium like that with Cardiff fans and not fans who have come to watch whoever we are playing against.

Couldn't replicate the atmosphere as many fans (especially on this board) are at least un-Welsh and Brit nats.
They just don't get it and never will
