' Joe Ledley did meet City to Sign for us '

Fri Sep 01, 2017 12:15 pm

Cardiff City 100% met Joe Ledley to discuss a contract and it nearly happened, Ledley did agree to come down on his wages significantly, whether it was enough? or did Warnock chose Craig Bryson over Joe Ledley?

Full details on why it never actually happened I honestly don't know, hopefully we will eventually find out :thumbright:

I've seen a couple of stories this morning saying that Bryson was his first choice.

Martin, Yes I have read what Warnock has said, so maybe it did not matter that Ledley was willing to reduce his wages as he was not first choice.

Annis! maybe it was just a case that NW couldn't guarantee 1st team place as think we have more suited players for his style of play and ledley wasnt happy with being backup? Have noted some other comments by other signings that they are happy to be part of the team and wait tbeir chance maybe ledley wasnt as happy.

Seen a few rumours on twitter that we were going to sign ledley after the deadline?

Obviously didn't come down far enough on his wages to make it worthwhile to the club as he will not be anywhere near the first 11.

I wonder how long he will be happy for his wages to be down to zilch.

Yeah, so can still happen. Maybe Ledley wants to wait until the international break is over?

Personally I'm not too disappointed.

Would rather have Bryson than take Ledley back.

If ledley is still interested in signing after the international games and we can afford him then we should try to sign him. It's a long season and the best teams have quality throughout the squad.

Probably hoping to have a good game for Wales to see if it brings any interest in signing him before he gets desperate enough to accept less money

Would be a risk to play him with no pre season.

So would it be risky to play him tomorrow against Austria? With no pre season and no club!!!!!

It has to be a risk. I guess Coleman will be seeing if he is match fit although I don't see how he can be.

I'm guessing Bryson was first choice but wouldn't be suprised to see Ledley sign if we manage to move a few out on loan.

Genuine question: What's 'super' about him? :?

I'm intrigued, as it can only be driven by a "from Cardiff" perspective? :?

Joe Ledley appears to have been caught out this summer and has at last been played at his own game, i.e. been kept waiting 'just in case' whilst the club went after their preferred target!

Words like poetic and justice spring to mind  :ayatollah:

Appears is the big word in here.

He left for a better life when we were looked like we were going to go bust.
He was fantastic when he was here.
He's been a fantastic servant for Wales.
I think his experience and presence would drive the team.
I struggle to slag off ex players or ex managers. (That last statement puts me in a definite minority)

He's one of our own. :bluescarf:

I missed the fantastic bit when he was here. I'm just glad the rest of our players did'nt leave for a better life when we were going bust. Personally, if I was in charge of Cardiff I would recommend that he goes to Celtic or anywhere other than this little club that he is way to big for.

Let's not dis Ledley too much. I never saw him give less than 100% when he was with us. Apparently there's a geniune desire to come home. It's obvious from the stories that broke on deadline day that he wasn't first choice. Give the man a break

I thought he was fantastic first time around and a number of clubs that are/were bigger than us agreed. He went to one. And he ended up playing CL football, earning a lot of money on the way. I struggle to criticise the lad for that.
Other players weren't out of contract so they didn't leave.
Personally I think he would be a good addition. Many clearly don't. :thumbright:

Opinions vary, but only NW will decide if he can do a job for us. Time will soon tell.

yes he was fantastic for us and always gave 100%.
but the way he left was crap..desperate to play in the prem he kept saying.??? then it altered to CL football.with Celtic ?
loads of unheard ofs have played CL football for no hopers mostly against other no hopers.
other players...this year Morrison and Bennett could have left for more dough.
Zohore could have not signed an extention and manouvered for a move.{ none of these are Welsh or from Cardiff } they havent because they think we are close to something here...we were close back then too..4 points short the season after he left { i think Joe would have been worth those 4pts }
anyway if Warnock feels we have a use for him and we have the cash,i will cheer him on the field.
but it wont be the return of a local hero.like it should have been..
and if NW decides he has no use for him..bloody great.

Totally agree and even on reduced wages they would be a lot higher than the other players which could have upset the great team spirit we have, i guess it is now China then Joe :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Don't want the traitor to come back after leaving us for nothing. Don't want him taking 1 penny out of the club. If he wants to come to Cardiff he should buy a ticket.
