"What A Difference A Year Makes"

With the summer transfer window having closed at 11pm yesterday evening I'm left with an overwhelming feeling of what a great job NW has made of transforming the mess that our business during the 2016 summer transfer window had made of our squad.

A simple comparison of the last day dealings for last year and this highlights just how far we have moved on, and thanks to having a "Football Man" in charge, we should ALL feel a lot more positive about the season ahead of us. Last year "The Committee" decided in it's wisdom to sell David Marshall and then spent the fee on signing Rickity Lambert, more £m's pissed to the wind. Yesterday much of the time was spent on moving on "Fringe" players but at the 11th hour adding a couple signings which leaves our squad with pretty much cover in every position.

This time last year Ken Choo claimed in an article in the matchday programme that "Every Decision Made During The Transfer Window Had Been Taken For The Benefit Of The Team On The Pitch". I suggested in a post on this board that statement was nothing more than the empty words of a snakeoil salesman and until we got a "Football Man " making decisions on any transfer we were in serious trouble. I remember being accused of pandering to the "Anti Tan" agenda of this boards owner, a laughable suggestion, over the many years I have posted on this board I have disagreed with Annis many times and never once has Annis ever tried to influence my opinions.

Well this year we have a "Football Man" in charge, in fact the same man was available last summer but the "Committee" decided to go with an untried, at Championship level, incompetent yes man and we so nearly paid the price.

The results this season speak for themselves and we should thank NW and his team for a fantstic job done in rebuilding our team but, we should also thank VT and the Board for fully supporting NW in the rebuilding job. Clearly, and at last, lessons appear to have been learned and whatever happens this season I believe this summers transfer dealings have left us well placed to have a real go at promotion this season.

As I say "What A Difference A Year Makes".

Good post, & one I couldn't agree more to. I get a real sense that every one at our club wants to move onwards & upwards, & I'm personally looking forward to how things develop.
Come next May,,, who knows???

Gary,

Very good and interesting article you've written once again :thumbright: :bluebird:

You are def your own person when you write and No one influences you in what you write.

Diabolical decisions were made once again by the Committee last season and for me anything they said was virtually bullshit once again.

By October 2016 City were in serious trouble and relegation could of cost our club dearly and the committee for their terrible decisions, so they were virtually forced in to finally bringing in a manager the fans were craving for and a manager who would not be controlled.

For seven years our club had been run so badly off the field, City could not afford any more mistakes and thankfully our 8th manager Neil Warnock has come in and turned our club totally around from top to bottom :thumbright: :thumbright:

We have our manager Neil Warnock who is a proven manager beyond doubt and saved Cardiff City from relegation last season.

Warnock has not only brought in players by spending less than £4mill to take us top of the Championship, but Warnock has also worked hard in trying to clear once again the costly mistakes of the Committee and previous managers.

The buzz around South Wales is back big time, fans from all other clubs are taking notice of us once again.

We are ALL uniting behind Neil Warnock and his team :thumbright: :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird:

We will have some slip ups along the way,but the fans must still cheer and applaud the Mighty Bluebirds.

Our Club/Manager/Team have done their part, Now for our fans to turn up in big numbers and fill the Cardiff City Stadium as Neil Warnock has asked for :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Big Congratulations to the committee for learning quickly from their mistakes, after all running a football club it quite a difficult thing to do!
However Its nice to be able to look forward now with positivity.....ohhh wait still people banging on about the same old dross.

Why claim the 'Committee' signed Ricky Lambert when he was clearly a Paul Trollope signing? It is nonsense like that which links you with being someone who is willing to spin things to appeal to those with an anti-tan agenda.

In any case we are all aware of the past mistakes of the football club they have been done to death and dragging them up every 5 minutes does nothing help the feel good factor which is slowly returning to the club despite the best efforts of some

Would it be an over statement to say the NW has saved our club from potentially going under?

Well Tony I have always considered you as being one of the more even-handed posters on this board but this is now the 2nd time you have accused me of pandering to the anti-tan agenda of some members of this board. Really

I thought what I had written there was both considered and even-handed but obviously I was wrong, or more accurately in your opinion I'm wrong. Now I accept all these things are about opinions and everyone has a right to both express them freely and have them respected so I'm sure we won't fallout about it.

I'm PMSL at the dig about me being "linked" as someone willing to spin things for the anti-tan agenda crew.

Absolutely made my day that one has.

Yup like nearly every club we have made mistakes. But it seems we have learnt from them and heading in the right direction. We may have spent only 4m but also turned down reported huge offers for Zohore and Morrison and giving new deals to a lot of players including Manga.

We may not have spent much on fees but Warnock has been back significantly by the club.

Vincent Tan sanctioned the signings like he has done since day one. Warnock accepts it's next down to him to deliver promotion.

Yes no matter what else Tan has done I dont think he would have let us go under, he is too proud a man to have such a public asset fail.

But i don't think it is an understatement to say he has quite possibly saved us from many more years of pain and mediocrity maybe even in league 1 whilst also brining the passion and belief back to our fan base. :ayatollah:

I would say our best signing in the last few years is Warnock.

Warnock says we tried to sign him before but he turned us down. He didn't say when but if he'd got Ollies squad then we could be in the Premier League by now. Maybe.
