Neil Warnock said: "Of all the players I wanted to sign, Craig Bryson has been at the top of my list for a very long time."
Craig Bryson, midfielder aged 30, arrives in South Wales after a six-year stint at Derby County.
Rams' boss Gary Rowett has allowed the Scottish international to join the Bluebirds on a season-long loan after Bryson racked up 223 first team appearances in the East Midlands since 2011.
Having allowed Peter Whittingham and Emyr Huws to leave the club, Warnock was quick to address his options in the centre of the park with the signing of Frenchman Loic Damour from Ligue 2 outfit Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas.
And Warnock repeatedly re-iterated his desire to further bolster his midfield options in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.
He of course has Damour, Joe Ralls and Aron Gunnarsson in his ranks, but he will have been eager to add cover to his squad given that the Bluebirds have a gruelling schedule in September and October, meaning Bryson can provide sufficient cover if required.
