Well done Vincent Tan

Wed Aug 30, 2017 6:39 pm

If Ken is staying, a big up to VT and it shows his belief in NW. He finally has a man in charge he can trust and has full faith in. In years gone by those in charge would have bitten the hands off someone offering a few million for one of our players. VT obviously has made big mistakes at CCFC, but hes keeping us going, backed his manager and HMRC ain't hounding us anymore since he took over.

Let's hope there ain't a silly money offer before tomorrow evening for Ken!

Think VT has been ill advised in the past, as he new little about football and is learning the hard way, i.e. by spending millions of pounds! :ayatollah:

Let's hope we are feeling the same way after the transfer window closes.

If he goes tomorrow it's for stupid money and the agent has done his work. If Ken goes to Everton well never see him again he will for away in reserves and he knows that.
The fact we have held out for double figure millions and rejected is testament. Tans done a remarkable job lately even the most one eyed couldn't disagree

Re: WELL DONE VINCENT TAN

The club is being run very well at the moment and that's easy to say when top of the league

Tan has let Warnock spend and Warnock says he hasn't been told no yet :occasion5:

But they seem to be on the same wave length which is the best news. Warnock may have only been given a few million to spend but the fact he has been able to keep Zohore and Morrison and give players new contract like Manga says even more. Let's be honest Warnock hasn't spent a few million because he could have sold Zohore and Morrison and had a 20m budget from the sales. He has been backed massively and delivering.

Interestingly the players he paid decent money for are on the bench at the moment

I had the intention of starting a thread after the window shuts but it looks promising ken is staying without tempting fate well done to VT for backing NW : :thumbright: :bluescarf:

Well done Vincent Tan ,only a fee of silly millions will he let Zohore go now (hopefully).
Whisper it quietly but perhaps its time to move on , and support the club and VT .
What's the old saying " better the devil you know"

Thanks Mr. Tan for continuing to put CCFC in a healthy position financially and playing wise.Badly advised previously and is learning what it takes to run a successful club.Anyone who still harbours a grudge for past events needs to move on and realise it happened and it was resolved. We can't change the past but we can certainly shape the future which is looking rosy.

As quoted by VT himself, the best chance of how he can get most of his money back is to get promoted.
He has the manager , just that extra push today to support NW.

January is where I believe we will see Mr Tan take a bit of a bigger gamble in backing his man, if we are there or there about I believe he will want to see job through and may spend a few quid more than he would have.

However, i am grateful to the man, he's kept us afloat,we would have gone bust imo without doubt, it's a shame his trust in other managers back fired on him, but in a way it's worked out. I was loosing interest in football as whole, the game has gone mad, but these are good days to be city fan, not because we are top, but because the football is good, it's worth the money and we have not been able to say that for a while. No matter what happens, this will be a great season of proper football. Playing for the manager and the shirt etc. I have missed that.

So yes well done VT and all at the club really, we seem to be in a very good place with one of the most respected managers the game will see.

As a few have said, credit where credit is due

Spot on. Everyone makes mistakes and when doing so they will tread on some peoples toes. It is understandable fans were pissed off by the rebrand, but as you said he was badly advised and that was further antagonised when he was urged to hold his ground for 2 and half years.

However, he proved to be the bigger man for realising his mistake and the hurt caused and then attempting to put things right. I have nothing against him whatsoever and indeed admire him for his recent efforts.

I just hope that those bloody minded fans who won't let it go will one day grow up and put it all behind them for the greater good of CCFC, but of course that means them putting the club before their own selfish egos which is their real problem, not Tan.

That is a great assessment. The OGS and PT appointments were nothing but expensive disasters which regressed the club. I do however, believe we needed Russell Slade who receives a worse press than he actually deserves.

Whilst accepting his brand of football was awful (although very similar to MM's who is lorded by some who strangely slate Slade) we were in the proverbial 'transition' phase and need extreme cost cutting to comply with FFP whilst at the same time remaining competitive in the Championship, which Slade achieved.

He had to go when he did because his brand of football had become toxic but even then his sacking indirectly led to the appointment of Warnock who has taken us into the stratosphere when compared to everything else that has happened since 2013.

Da iawn Vincent / Da iawn Neil.
Well done both. Got the main business done early before prices went even madder.
Kept hold off all first team players. No complaints.
Whatever happens in the rest of the season, time for all to say well done!!
Time to let bygones be bygones and recognise VT has been one of the better Chairmen City have had.

Probably the best.

VT is definitely not one of Cardiff's better chairmen. Possibly one of the better owners, time will tell.

some of the replies on this thread should be framed - absolutely laughable.

neil warnock has got the players putting in a shift and has unearthed a few gems - that has very little, if anything, to do with tan. what has changed since last year? he's appointed a new manager and backed him with a few million to make some signings. just like he did a year ago.

to see people who have now gone full circle and are arse licking him again really is cringeworthy. it never fails to amaze me how short the memory some fans have. a leopard doesnt change its spots.

A lot has changed that is clear, spending on fees, a lot of players signing new contracts and most impressive not selling Morrison and Zohore who could have brought in huge funds to the club. Amazes me how short sighted some fans are.

No not seeing arse licking, just a man who keeps us afloat, got a great manager and is backing him, he is not selling our best assets. He appears to be trusting those around him and not trying to grab what he can back at this stage. That deserves some credit. The rebrand has been done to death, it is all but wiped out now, time to move on.

So yes, I would shake the mans hand and offer a thank you. As I have said, credit where credit is due

Re: Well done Vincent Tan

i think my post from august 2016 sums it up quite well.

any fan who cares about the tradition of cardiff city would want tan to be involved less, not more. it must be said that he is learning incredibly slowly for a so called billionaire businessman, making several embarrassingly bad, key decisions along the way.

we seem to be lurching from one manager to another without any long term plan or philosophy. the club clear the deck and allow solskjaer to reshape the club from top to bottom, giving him huge sums to spend in the process, then promptly change strategy and appoint slade to undergo large scale cost cutting. slade is then appointed in a senior strategical role and then allowed to leave weeks after.

our best hope is that tan leaves football matters to people that know what they are doing. ken choo has no experience in football yet he is tasked to be the man to get deals done in the murky world of football. what could possibly go wrong?

it appears warnock , who has vast experience, is being given far more control over signings and the running of the club than his predecessors, which has so far paid dividends, so i suppose tan deserves credit for keeping his nose out of player signings etc. even putting the rebrand to one side, my above post says it all.
