Latest: Bolton agree deal for Cardiff's Noone
By John August

HITC Sport understands Bolton have agreed a deal for Cardiff winger.

Bolton are hoping to sign Cardiff City winger Craig Noone, but are waiting to sell another player before finalising the deal, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Cardiff are willing to let Noone leave as he does not figure in Neil Warnock's plans going forward at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The 29-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Cardiff and they are ready to let him leave for free.

A number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in signing the former Liverpool trainee, but Bolton are in pole position to land Noone.

Bolton, who are still working under a transfer embargo, have agreed a deal in principle for Noone, but the Trotters need to make room in their squad by offloading some players to make way for Noone's arrival.

Noone joined Cardiff from Brighton in 2012 and played a key role in helping the club win promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

Noone has made 170 appearances for Cardiff during his five-year spell in Wales, but he has not figured this season and he is keen to move on in search of regular first-team football at this stage of his career.

Prefer to sell but it's a start (for both parties) :ayatollah:

As long as they cover all his wages it'll definitely be a start.

Hmmm City will have to pay the majority of his wages like we did with Adam Le Fondre.

Craig Noone £20,000 Plus a week.

I really am on the fence with this one, one side I feel like his time is up and it's time for him to move on but then part of me says a lot of his best performances lie on the left side, he really is dangerous on that side and caused problems every time he swapped wings in games when we played.

No chance of that, the EFL have given Bolton a salary cap of 4,500 a week per player. If Noone goes to Bolton on loan, I'm afraid it will still be us paying the vast majority of his wage.

We are obviously top of Bolton's suckers list having done us over ALF & Ben Amos. Probably hoping to sign Noone with us picking up 90% of the tab.

If that's the case then it's a bloody waste of time. Hopefully someone comes in tomorrow & gets him permanently.

Hopefully John & Pilks can get a moves also.

Agree, it's mainly a money issue with Noone, so a loan move where we pay 80%+ of his wages is not really a viable option :(

I've always said play him on the other wing and you have a different player who can cross shoot and pass first time instead of having to cut in from the right. Really wish some mug would come and sign Pilkington from us though.

Needs to be a full sell on really a loan deal with us paying the wages just doesn't make any sense

I think he could do so well at a Norwich or somewhere. Still lot to offer just gone stale.

I really do believe we would see a different player in Noone when on the wing of his strongest foot.

If Bolton are under an embargo, how do they sign players? Are 'free transfers' okay or is it a financial limit? :?

I note they say Bolton need to shift someone out first? :ayatollah:

If Bolton have to move a player on and we are looking for a midfield player then why don't we take Josh Vela from Bolton and give them Noone. We were supposedly after Vela some time ago. Easy deal to complete. :banghead:

Seriously don't want Pilks to leave. It's been said before but on the evidence of performances so far he's much better than Ward.

pretty sure loans and free transfers are ok..its how we got Zohore
sure i read the EFL have restricted their squadto 23/24 players.
but also read Bolton were going to apeal all of these restrictions.

Cardiff City winger Craig Noone and left-back Declan John are likely to leave this summer, according to the club's manager Neil Warnock.

Noone, 29, has made 170 appearances for the Bluebirds since joining from Brighton for £1m in 2012.

But he has struggled to secure a regular first-team place recently and Cardiff could sell him before his contract expires in 2018.

"I think Nooney realises it's time for him to move on," said Warnock.

"I think he needs a new challenge now. He's done ever so well for the club since he's been here.

"I only ever played two years at a club and I was a winger and I was ready to move on, and I think Craig needs a new challenge, get his enthusiasm back."

I can't see Bolton affording even half of Craig Noones wages.
