EXCLUSIVE: GLASGOW RANGERS LINE UP LEFT-SIDED FLYER SIGNING FROM ENGLISH LEAGUEBy Pete O’RourkeWednesday 30th August 2017
Rangers are lining up a last-gasp move for Cardiff left-sided flyer Declan John, Football Insider sources understand.
The Scottish giants are looking to take advantage of John’s contract situation and the fact that he has lost his place at the English Championship side, where he has not featured so far this season.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Rangers are hoping to sign John on an initial loan with a view to a permanent deal.
The 22-year-old, who is predominantly a left-back but can also play left midfield, has started only one game for Cardiff since Neil Warnock was appointed manager of the club last October.
The Wales international has found himself behind Joe Bennett in the pecking order at the Cardiff City Stadium and Warnock has been happy to let him move on.
John is in the final year of his contract at Cardiff, which has given Rangers hope of tying up a deal.
John has come through the ranks at Cardiff and made 52 appearances for the club since breaking into the first-team in 2012.
The left-sided player will add cover and competition for Rangers left-back Lee Wallace in Pedro Caixinha’s first-team plans at Ibrox.

If this is true he should grab the chance with both hands They may not be a great team at the moment but what an opportunity for him

So now the Scottish league is a good move? He'd be better off in a top end division one club and trying to work his way up the English football ladder Imo.

Jack, to be fair any move at this moment is a good move for Declan, he is rotting away.

Declan John on his way to Rangers
Sources in Scotland have suggested that Cardiff City’s Declan John is ready to complete a loan move to Scottish Premiership side Rangers.
The left-back has been tipped for a move away from the Cardiff City Stadium for most of the summer, and now looks set for a fresh start in Glasgow.

Rangers would be a huge experience for him and a good move for all involved
If Declan starts to show the form he once promised, he won't be out of the EFL for too long

Be a good move.
League 1 standard without being league 1.

Just because Rangers play in a shite league doesn't make them a small club, at the EUFA Cup Final in Manchester local authorities estimated over 260,000 supporters followed them there. So in terms of fan base we are still one of the worlds biggest clubs.
Declan John would not be guaranteed a starting place as current left back is Rangers Captain Lee Wallace, can he play in the centre or at RB .

Let's be honest we are all blowing smoke up his arse suggesting this is a good move for him.
The nasty evil people that we are, we just want what's good for the club and want rid.

"Yeah Declan, fantastic move. You'd be stupid not to take the opportunity."

I like Declan John and wish he could've improved more here. Sadly that's unlikely and I believe a move to Rangers would be good for both clubs and fantastic for the player. I believe he'll restore his confidence there and will improve more, hopefully it'll benefit the Welsh side

Seeing that it's a loan Annis may be a good thing after all but a permanent move I think would be a mistake.

Anyone saying Rangers are not a big club are idiotic. Anyway good luck to Declan, its a good move for him and hopefully he can get some game time up there. As many people have said its better than sitting in the under 23's.

Don't think he'd be an automatic starter at Rangers, more for cover. Then again why would he go there if he didn't think he'd get game time.

RANGERS FANS BLOWN AWAY AS CLUB CLOSE TO SIGNING INTERNATIONAL ACE
By Harry Sykes
Rangers are hot on the trail of Cardiff left-back Declan John – and fans have taken to Twitter to hail him as potentially fine acquisition.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Wednesday morning that the Scottish giants are trying to land John, 22, on an initial loan with a view to a permanent deal.
The Scottish giants are looking to take advantage of John’s contract situation and the fact that he has lost his place at the English Championship side.
The Wales international has been targeted by Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha to provide cover for skipper Lee Wallace at left-back.
The Ibrox faithful took to Twitter in their droves to respond to Football Insider‘s exclusive, with most impressed by the pedigree of a player who made 20 top-flight appearances during Cardiff’s Premier League days.
