CARDIFF CITY DEPARTURES?
The need for Warnock to offload players is pressing, with Cardiff currently carrying round a bloated squad of 29 senior players.
Declan John
Declan John has been peripheral for Cardiff City under Neil Warnock
The young Welshman is way down the pecking order at full-back, with Jazz Richards and Joe Bennett the main options for Warnock on the left side of defence. He'll surely seek pastures new before the 11pm deadline on Thursday, having never forced his way into Warnock's first team plans.
Anthony Pilkington
The versatile forward is perhaps an option Cardiff could afford to keep, but he may prove an attractive last-minute purchase for a club seeking more firepower. He's fallen down the pecking order in both his preferred positions (out wide and up front) and Bluebirds fans wouldn't shed too many tears if Pilkington's three-year tenure came to an end this week.
Craig Noone
The out-of-favour winger was linked with a loan move to Burton Albion , but Nigel Clough has since acquired Joe Mason and Sean Scannell on loan to provide forward options. Noone was stripped by Cardiff of the No.11 shirt, however, and has played no part this season, his last appearance coming in the pre-season friendly at Taff's Well on July 14. We will surely see some movement on this one before Thursday is out.
Stuart O'Keefe
The one that might not happen, with Warnock keen to avoid a repeat of the January deadline day earlier this year when he allowed O'Keefe, Emyr Huws and Matty Kennedy to depart on loan — even though it left Cardiff a little threadbare. O'Keefe has been linked with Portsmouth though, and could move to a League One club if the deal is right.
Frederic Gounongbe
The Benin international is still on the Bluebirds' books, despite being excluded from the pre-season tour of Devon and Cornwall and missing all first team action so far this term. He will surely leave South Wales sooner rather than later.
