When I was at UWIC, nearly 20 years ago now, the footy teams were pretty competitive. 1st and 2nd teams very hard to get in to.

Excellent social football at Uni though.

Mainly made up from guys on the sports courses. Cyncoed campus. And a lot of them ex academy players. Some very good. A lot better than me anyway. Most had realised they weren't going to make a career playing football so had gone to uni to study sport in some capacity to stay in the industry. Many friends are now coaches, PE teachers or involved in statistics.

What you off to study? Well done on getting in!

thanks for the response mate I am going to study football coaching and performances at glyntaff , I worry that my age 31 may be difficult to get into any of the 1st or 2nd teams but I think there are a few more sides also

You'll be fine. There will definitely be some football to play.

Make the most of all the sports facilities at uni.

Roachy i haven't got any info on football sides but as for the USW futsal side yes I have . They play in the university BUCS league which sends them all over england and Wales throughout the season playing against other universities

They also have a side in the FAW Elite futsal league . The FAW split the league into north and south .Winners of each league play each other and whoever wins represent Wales in the Euro Futsal Cup . Wrexham futsal are the current welsh champions .

If you require any more info regarding USW futsal i know the manager quite well or any other info on welsh futsal feel free to PM me on here and I could put you in touch with the right people .i/m sure the club would welcome new players

well yes super fast paced at the top level but at university level much calmer . if you have played normal 5 a side you'll be fine and 31 is no age . i have just come back from playing 5 a side futsal a few moments ago and i,m slightly older than you ;) . get involved

Hey pal, I have recently finished from USW and for the past 2 years have been the club captain, I am still heavily involved though as we do play in the FAW futsal league. Futsal is a fantastic sport to get involved in and very good way to spend your time during university competing at a very high standard. Last year we finished second in the BUCS Premeir division. Feel free to shoot me a pm for me info :thumbright:
