NEIL WARNOCK ON NOONE, PILKINGTON AND JOHN

Fri Aug 25, 2017 9:47 am

Neil Warnock said today that there has been interest in his players

"We’ve had interest in all of them. (Pilkington, John and Noone)

I would like to think most of them found clubs if I’m honest. You don’t want players not making the squad, once the window closes they could be back in the fold. You haven’t got time to hold grudges, I’ve had it in the past where players haven’t gone for money, for me you go to play. Everybody has different opinions."

Interesting comments there.

These guys have been with the club for a while and have been well paid. You would think they have been set up for life quite well or at least got themselves in a position to move onto other things financially if they think their football careers are coming to an end.

These 3 have still got enough to offer be it at this level or lower. Certainly at a lower level they would get game time guaranteed. Staying here is going to make them stale due to not getting game time. Saying that I think Pilkington might still get some. So staying for the money where we could use it to improve ourselves is selfish.

Cant blame them either, we gave them the contract they are entitled to see it out. I don't think I would move either for less money.

Earning that money surely you would want to play and not just be a reserve team player

Luke, surely the club would reasonably compensate the gap in earnings in line with the remainder of their contracts if they joined other clubs? :ayatollah:

Well yes but that would be Warnock decision. If I've been loyal to the club then why should you then take a pay cut because the manager wants to discard me.

As Sven says the club will probably fill the gap in the difference. I expect they will go on loan keel there wage and then sign on frees elsewhere with a good signing on bonus.

I would keep Pilks at the club, he can score from the bench if we are in trouble, that cracker against Bristol City shows what he can do.
