Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has revealed he will have his phone switched off for the end of the transfer window.


The Bluebirds’ boss has battled to keep hold of star striker Kenneth Zohore during this transfer window, and he’s admitted he won’t be taking any calls in the last couple of days.

Warnock has expressed that he’s keen on bringing in another midfielder before the window shuts on August 31st though, despite ‘booking a ferry to France’.

“I’d like to get someone on loan for the middle. We’re a bit thin there and if someone gets injured we’re in trouble so I need someone just to give us options.

“And especially if a couple leave, then we will need to just add something to the middle, but that will all be later on.

“I’ve booked a ferry for France for the last couple of days of the window and I’ll have my phone off and there’ll be one or two chasing me, I just hope it’s not my chairman.”


Warnock stated, “I’m disappointed, obviously, to get knocked out of the cup but not heartbroken.”

Despite naming many of the Bluebirds’ fringe players in the starting side, Warnock threw on Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Loic Damour in the second-half in the hope of finding an equalizer.

“At 1-0 I hoped to put on Medez-Laing and Loic (Damour), 2-0 I wasn’t going to bother, but then we had one back and I had to go for it.

“Connolly was only supposed to play an hour in his first game back now, but I left him on and I better give him a few days off now.”

Whilst very few stood out in the defeat, 18-year-old academy graduate Cameron Coxe made his first-team debut and Warnock was quick to heap praise on the young defender who put in a decent performance against Nigel Clough’s side.

“It was a pleasing debut for Coxe, Scannell will do anyone like that so he did well.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s clash with Queen Park Rangers, in a game which could see the Bluebirds take 15 points from their opening five games, Warnock stated, “It’s a blessing that we haven’t picked up any injuries.”

He added: “Would you change the team from last week? You’d have to be a good player to get into my team at the minute and I don’t envisage many changes. Saturday will be important before the break”.

Hi City Slicker - yes, superb start to the season! Had my usual fiver each way on us to win the league ( got 25/1 ) and cant wait for the game Saturday ( even though while the school hols are still on, it is taking us 3 hours to drive up from Taunton ).
