Caribao Cup Draw -Burton Get United!

Thu Aug 24, 2017 5:03 am

Manchester United v Burton Albion

It would have been City (both would have held No.11 in the draw as it was alphabetical)

There we are it would have been Man united

Thu Aug 24, 2017 5:11 am

There we are if we had put half a decent team out we might have been going to the theatre of dreams you want change my mind on this we should still put strong teams out for cup ties

Re: There we are it would have been Man united

That's the reason we should never treat the cups with contempt. Missed out on a trip to Old Trafford and shit loads of money from gate receipts.

If we had qualified we would of been a different ball number changing other teams ball numbers

We may of got united but saying because burton have that we would of don't work that way

The ball numbers were allocated alphabetically. We would also have been ball number 11 so, with all other things being equal, we would also have drawn Man Utd.

If we manage to get promoted we will be playing much more than just Man U. Don't get me wrong it would have been exciting however, we perhaps would have fielded a strong team having a tough match with poss injuries at the end or knackered players....no thanks.

If we get to the premier league we get to go there every year and with a little less inferiority complex.

Good post this. I think that needed clarifying before anyone (including me) says it wouldn't have been us had we won the tie on Tuesday!

Good luck to former United man Nigel Clough and his team on what will be their own Cup Final night ! :ayatollah:

It'll be the only thing they've got to look forward to this season(and good luck to them). We have bigger fish to fry.

So we first have posts complaining that we should have higher attendances as we are a bigger and now we act like little leaguers in awe of the fact we could have played Man U.

Oh the excitement. Little old Cardiff City could have gone to the, self titled, Theatre of Dreams and been eternally grateful to our illustrious hosts. Who knows they may have even given us all the gate fees to help a little brother out.

Who cares. It would have been a game to take us away from the real prize, a game where we would have wanted a strong team out and that alone would have affected league games before and after.

I think it's the Mancs who are disappointed most: they drew Burton, but could have had the tie of the round against the mighty Cardiff City Galacticos.

Theatre of dreams  looks like the undercover Mancs' on this forum are gutted we are not playing their 2nd string, who gives a stuff. Concentrate on the league.

I would'nt have been any more interested in watching Man U reserves play Cardiff reserves than I was watching us play Burton reserves. Much prefer to see us get promoted and play the real Man U and all the other big teams on a regular basis.

Don't know why everyone is so bothered we have done united away already in the prem no big thrills when we would play united 2nds

League over the cup

Huge pay day missed out on.
Wonder if we would have struggled to fill our allocation for that away game like most :bluebird:

Can you imagine all the South Wales Man Utd fans coming out of the woodwork creaming their pants pretending to be City fans just to get their grubby little hands on a ticket to their cathedral. f*cking WANKERS!!!!!!

Can't pine for what we didn't have lol

Sorry but comparing a one off game against Manure with the potential of promotion is a no brainer for me. I am happy that we are out.

It is not as if we have not played them for years is it?

They are not the team that they used to be and I would prefer to keep our players fit for the league games. :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

I would like us to win every game , don't like seeing us lose but I'm not too disappointed in being out of the league cup , if was a choice for day out at Man Utd or 3 points in the next game I'd take the 3 points , league is ar more important than the cup , Burton game shows we don't have enough depth for the squad to have a cup run this season . Burton deservedly won , good uck to them

It's a crap place for an away fan anyway. Probably the most dissapointing away trip in the prem. Ground is in the middle of nowhere. Stewards treat you like scum and the ground itself isn't even particulary nice TBH.

But its a reason to moan and its what our fans do best :old:

Sadly, Clough got it right and Warnock got it wrong. The former played a team well-balanced between first steamers and reserves, while the latter totally underestimated the opposition and selected a reserve team.
I hope NW realises it was his fault.

dont think it was under-estimating the opposition at all.

it was all about not risking first team players.

Sorry, but i don't see what the problem is. So what if it's Man Utd, i dont support them or have any interest in travelling to old trafford this season.
It would have served no purpose to us aside from risking injury to a first teamer. All for the sake of the Manure/cardiff dual teamers to get their dream trip to old trafford.

Theatre of dreams? Sorry, not for me.

The ball numbers were allocated alphabetically. We would also have been ball number 11 so, with all other things being equal, we would also have drawn Man Utd.

Yeh and if my aunty had balls she'd be my uncle.
