North and South

I was wondering if anyone knows how come Burton end up in the South section and play us and yet Newport are in the North section and play Leeds , it doesn't make sense . Surely they should be the other way round which would have made an interesting match

I was confused how Burton were in the Southern section and West Brom were in the Northern section. I'm even more confused how Southern Newport have been drawn against Northern Leeds. The whole draw was a complete and utter farce.

Newport and West ham were given permission to play away from home due to stadium commitments. They moved Newport to the north so they couldn't be picked against West ham.

Newport will play Leeds at elland road.

Doesn't explain Burton

This is what i heard but Newport were drawn at home against Leeds so that cant be right

New pitch being laid at Newport so they have to play their first few games away (including the cup) so even though drawn at home they had previous agreement with FA to reverse the fixture and play away.
They were moved to the North section of the draw to prevent the possibility of being drawn with West Ham, who also had an agreement with the FA to play their first few games away due to their stadium still being in use for the athletics.

Now it makes sense! Couldn't risk wham/nport drawn together as neither could play at Home so swapped Burton with nport so avoiding a problem :
