Used to sit in the Bob Bank, don't have a season ticket now though due to work commitments. I've been lurking on this forum for a while as there seems to be some good accurate information.
I hope no one takes this question the wrong way, and I know negativity is the last thing that we as loyal fans need right now, but how or why did the Malaysian's invest in our club?
The reason I ask is that every one keeps going on about them being extremely shrewd business people, however they have essentially invested in to an insolvent company, one which is losing money year on year, and as with any business which is losing money it's just racking up more and more debt. Now I'm not a business person myself, and obviously there is huge potential within Cardiff City football club, but at the same time surely it's just throwing money away, and even when we get back to a more solvent state (whenever that may be) the club might be in the third division turning over minimal profits so the return on the work (and capitol invested) by the Malaysian's isn't going to be anything outstanding.
I look forward to many more debates on this forum over the coming months, hopefully the ship will start to steady. Bring on the new season.

However, it would be extremely naive to suggest that a calculated gamble was not taken nonetheless, of course it was. Personally, I share the same view as you, yes, they did only physically invest after the play off final, but I seem to remember reading there was written proof from the Malaysians beforehand that they would invest regardless, hence were already commited. Equally, I'm sure there are always technicalities that can be found somewhere had they wanted to get out of it, so that must augur well, but like you I'm lost as to how anyone can see this as a sound investment, truly lost.
It's not a romantic notion of a football fan I know, but personally I think we have no option other than to sell Chopra & Whittingham at the very least, while further sales of anyone who only has a year left on their contracts and will not sign a new deal would simply have to be sold too All these would need to be replaced for nominal fees rather than the utter folly of the lavish spending we saw on Chopra, Hudson etc, not just the fees, but huge wages too. It is a dangerous game given the competitiveness of this league and the thin line between success and failure, but so too is it a damgerous game running up incredible amounts of debt gambling on promotion. A year or two of consolidation to get the finances and infrasrtructure right is what I feel needs to be done, romantic or not. We've "lived the dream" for 10 years or so already, it's surely time for a more pragmatic approach to ensure the club is still around in 10 years time, regardless of at what level.
