Craig Noone, Why he Never Played Last Night And it Looks like he's def leaving.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock reveals the reason behind Craig Noone's Carabao Cup omission

"I think Nooney realises it's time for him to move on," said Warnock.

By Chris Wathan

Wednesday 9th August 2017

If we had played Craig Noone last night, then Noone would be unable to play for another club in the Carabao Cup this season.

Neil Warnock has revealed how red tape was the reason for leaving Craig Noone still looking for his first minutes of the season as he hinted towards a potential loan exit for the winger.

Noone was not in the squad that started the Championship campaign at Burton having been told to find a new club over the summer.

And he was again missing as Cardiff beat League One Portsmouth after extra time in the Carabao Cup first round after Cardiff City Stadium.

Others on the fringes were given minutes in the cup clash, including Stuart O'Keefe who has also been tipped for a move away.

But Warnock revealed the rules that state players can only figure for two clubs in any one season saw him opt against Noone pulling on a Cardiff shirt before an exit this August.

"I think Nooney realises it's time for him to move on," said Warnock.

Warnock revealed: “Craig was going to be involved but last year there was a right c**k up with Ben Amos (who played for Bolton in the EFL Cup before signing for Cardiff on loan).

“We were stuck with Ben because you can only play for two club and he'd played at Bolton. If Craig had played two minutes for us against Portsmouth, it meant he would have to go out on a year-long loan and we wouldn't have six months as an option. I didn't want to risk that if I'm honest so I decided not to do it.”

Noone has been linked to permanent moves with Burton and Ipswich, with Warnock adding: “We've had two or three people (interesting in Noone) but nothing to whet our appetite.”

Great to have a shrewd Manager in charge!

Options open on him (noonie) get a full payment for him if we can otherwise he can go out and I would hope the club get near to what he gets weekly. Ipswich would be his best as imo they would want him permanent?

Warnock looks like he is running the show and the committee are finally listening as they have cost our club £millions.

Yeah he is like a breath of fresh air.

I'm sure if we get these 4-5 players off our books he already has agreements in place to bring 2-3 in permanent or loans.

He's old school and appreciates getting what he wants sorted.

If we don't do well it won't be for the lack of effort.

We are playing hard ball we want the deal to suit us and not them.

The longer it goes the more desperate these teams will be and it'll be an auction, which again suits us.

Hopefully that's is the case...but we still need 2 more players in...it's really frustrating at the moment because I think it's plain to see we are definitely top 10 at the moment, a couple more quality players and we are pushing top 6

2x£2 million players but have we got the finance to do it?????

If my memory serves me right NW stated that if he sold or reduced the squad he would get that money and wages to get more players.

I'm not worried as I've stated he is a wily old fox and would have agreements in place for the players he wants it all depends on these other teams getting worried?

I see Portsmouth need a left back so wouldn't surprise me to see John going there!!!

Annis/Karl, this is what this club has needed for a long time and it almost overrides the playing side in its importance for the medium to long-term future of Cardiff City Football Club :thumbright:

Obviously, I don't mean the playing side should be forgotten. Thankfully, it certainly hasn't been this summer. I just mean that the importance of getting the platform right is not lost on a man like Neil Warnock and I genuinely believe others at the club will learn so much about "how it should be done" from the guy whilst he is here and it wouldn't be unrealistic to see him in a leading role 'upstairs' when he eventually decides his future is no longer in the dugout (which I hope is some time away yet)

Cardiff City FC and its fans have seen a massive difference at this club in the last 9 months or so and (credit to those who brought him here and those who work with him) it has mainly been down to one man and his vision

We won't have it all our own way on the pitch but it won't be for lack of effort and commitment from the manager and his team. No shirkers, no deadwood, no messing and some refreshing honesty alongside some pretty witty one-liners for the media. Just got to love the guy being OUR boss and nor someone else's right now! :ayatollah:

I was trying to think the last time we had the majority of our players signed up before the season started?

We usually sign 2-3 and then the rest during the last weeks of the window whereas now it's the other way around :bluescarf:

Tactically astute and aware of what's needed is NW and his team. We are sailing under the radar and long may it continue :ayatollah:

Karl, you are correct and I just responded on another thread regarding the fitness of the squad. The manager has 'prepped' the squad early and everyone will know what is expected of them, which hopefully will steal us a march on other teams in the division

Too early to predict anything yet but the atmosphere sort of reminds me of the promotion season under Malky when we went so many games unbeaten to build an early lead at the top which allowed us to have a mid-season 'dip' and still not be seriously threatened. Dare we dream again...? ;) :D

Chris, Dare we dream! I've already started :bluescarf:

No team will enjoy coming to us and if we can be solid away we have players who can cause damage.

I won't predict anything either we've had to many times where we've had our hand bitten off ha ha :bluebird:

I think the feel good factor might actually get the fans who left to return ( inc me) it has never been the results with me always been it's my club and I enjoy watching etc. :ayatollah:
