Murphy 4 wayward kicking, poor decision making, silly booking

Halford 4 goal aside, poor game. One dimensional, caught out the and again. Tough game for him but didn't endear to the City faithful

Morrison 7 tidy job won most aerial duals

Manga 8 calm and composed on the ball. Didn't win every header but read the game well

Richards 6 nothing special, but an attacking outlet in the second half

OKeefe 5 anonymous first half, bit more bite in the second half, and a bit of energy but shop window opportunity missed

Damour 6 improved significantly second half. A ball winner who will be a favourite

Kennedy 7 saw a lot of the ball, and second half almost got on the score sheet. Busy, where the end product improved second half

Tomlin 6 not quite firing. Anoth whose second half performance improved significantly. Some clever flicks, but his teammates not yet on his wavelength

Pilkington 4 anonymous. Didn't get involved as much as he would have wanted first half and subbed. Didn't provide an outlet for the team.

Ward 6 part of a poor first half performance for the team, but rose to the challenge second half and put in a more than decent shift. Hard worker, yes, natural goal scorer, to be decided

Mendez Laing 9 always dangerous, changed the game, upped the ante and a catalyst for teMs improvement

Meite 4 speed merchant, but a very heavy first touch. Got in three great positions with the ball at his feet in the 6 yard box, only to fluff all of them. Needs a loan move to build confidence.

Ralls 6 added a little composure to the midfield, but not enough time to have to much of an impact

Can't argue with most of that but I thought Manga was not an 8 more of a 6 and I thought Jazz was our best player until Laing came on.

What tonight did prove is that if we don't get another central midfielder and an out and out striker we will not get promotion, the back up in these positions is not good enough

I stopped reading after the rating for Richards. 6!?

No one covered themselves in glory in the first half. Pilkington didn't look interested at all.

Second half, with the introduction of Mendez, and moving Tomlin behind Ward, totally changed the game, and everyone moved up a level.

I personally thought Richards was excellent and if we are going to play wingbacks this season he has to start ahead of Peltier.

Mendez was fantastic. It will be interesting to see if he starts on Saturday.

Surely Kennedy will be in the squad on Saturday as well.

Tomlin looks lost out wide but in a number ten position, with ball to feet, he is a total game changer.

We definitely look to be short on goals in the squad though. I would like to see another striker or goal scoring midfielder added before deadline day as otherwise we might come up short.

For me, jazz was excellent. That being said I've yet to see him have a poor game. For anyone suggesting Fulham had the begged deal when we swapped him for malone is taking something I need!!

When tomlin came central he was superb. Kennedy tried everything. I was very encouraged by how we have players now that are happy to have a go at defenders and take them on. I thought ward had some nice neat touches too.

It was one of those games where we battered them but couldn't quite finish it off. That said. It's game 2
If a long season. If they can play with that style
Now I'm excited at how we can improve over the season

Pilks should have been played out wide from the start imho

Yeah, maybe a bit harsh on Jazz. When everyone has a poor first half its often difficult to pick out defenders as the pick of the bunch. Keepers and strikers are always heroes, but, yeah, in fairness, Jazz maybe deserved a better rating as at least there was no sloppiness in his play.

I think Tomlin was just put in to build match fitness and have game time.

I was disapointed with Kennedy not being in the squad vs Burton. In the last preseason game i thought he looked really good, had one bad pass but other then that he was all over up front. Some times on the left, middle and right. He used both feet to get crosses into the box too and never really wasted possession.

Its nice to have options on the wings now, Hol, Ken, Men all look good

Yep, I agree. That's a little harsh on the game I watched. Didn't think Halford was that bad either. He did a 'job' for the manager and ran his socks off (as did the whole team)

I think we've got a diamond in Mendez-Laing and a very good player in Danny Ward. I think both will see a lot of game time this season (maybe initially from the bench) :ayatollah:

Ward getting a 6 for what? Receiving s**t service and having long aimless balls aimed at him? The lad done everything he could and wasn't helped by a pathetic effort from the team first half.
