Neil Etheridge

It was a solid enough outing from the ex-Walsall 'keeper at the Pirelli Stadium — but Etheridge will surely face bigger hurdles in the weeks to come.

The Brewers rarely tested the new Cardiff gloveman, making for a relatively straightforward competitive debut. He was occasionally called into action under the high ball and looked solid.

Where Etheridge appeared a little shaky was rushing out of his box to make clearances, but he perhaps wasn't helped by the 3-4-3 system that Warnock used. It left Cardiff's full-backs a little higher than normal and dragged Sol Bamba a little out of position.

The jury is still out on Etheridge. But he'll get more chances to stake his claim for the regular No.1 spot before Lee Camp's return from injury.

i hope he gets a bit of luck..or doesnt have bad luck..i think its more important for a keeper to have a good start at a club than outfield players as they have so little opportunity to make up for errors.
anyway..good solid start .

His out of box clearances are a strong part of his game, anything but shaky and their often difficult to judge. He did one at Burton and I noticed he also did it effectively at Livingston which stopped all momentum of the attacking build up.

100% agree.
