Asked to provide a link between midfield and attack, the former Bristol City man looked sharp. He takes care of the football, but has tremendously fast feet and can shimmy away from his opponent in the blink of an eye.
He's perhaps a little short of full match fitness, hence Warnock's decision to replace him on 65 minutes. But Tomlin provided a couple of magical touches, not afraid to try a trick or a flick without showboating.
