Didn't go to it, as I'm not into reggae, but remember it well. Some of my work colleagues went, though. It poured down on the day, but Bob and the Wailers were very good, they told me. After that we had the hottest, driest summer in living memory. There is a large photo of the concert in the concourse, behind the Ninian stand. Happy days!

On June 19, 1976, a gig called West Coast Rock Concert, featuring reggae legend Bob Marley, was held at the now-demolished Ninian Park. But pouring rain put people off and just a few hundred fans braved the mud.

It was also at the Canton end not the old Bob Bank as advertised in the OP.
My mates cried off due to the weather and I went on my own. I actually walked through the players tunnel to get out onto the pitch
RIP Bob.
Happy days!

“Bob Marley hadn’t crossed over by that point, he was still fairly underground. The crowd was a young one, lots of people under 30 and a real mixture. There were lots of hippies there, some people who would later become punks… Robert Plant was there too. He used to live near Newport at the time.”

Never knew that about Robert Plant. I bought his CD last year.
Is that pic above Pontcanna? It looks like. Brilliant.

Big Log by Robert Plant what a tune, not sure the pic is from Pontcanna but Bob loved his footy. I first discovered Marley after
listening to John Peel on the radio in 77. Listening to John Peel playing Reggae and Indie bands was life changing for me back then and John Peel is also still sadly missed by many...
