Nigel Clough drops hint Cardiff City star Craig Noone could move to Burton Albion
The Cardiff City winger looks like he's heading for the exit door this summer
Nigel Clough refused to answer questions on a potential move for winger Craig Noone in the wake of Cardiff City's 1-0 win at Burton Albion.
The Brewers boss said he wouldn't speak about players until they'd signed for the club, seemingly hinting that Noone was set to make the switch to East Staffordshire.
The Bluebirds winger was spotted in the stands at the Pirelli Stadium, but not included in Neil Warnock's matchday squad of 18.
And with Clough on the hunt for two more wingers and a striker before the transfer window shuts on August 31, Noone has emerged as a transfer option.
"We don't talk about them until they actually come in," said the Burton Albion boss when quizzed about Noone's future.
Warnock has previously admitted a number of clubs were interested in Noone, the former Brighton winger whose Bluebirds days appeared to be numbered.
And though the Cardiff boss didn't reveal any more details of transfer incomings or outgoings, it seems Noone could be close to an exit.

I think it would probably be a good move for both clubs and the player himself if it were to come off.

Craig Noone was walking into the ground with Big Ben Turner today. Seemed in a good mood and both chatted freely with City fans

I sat in front of him in stand, he sat next to Burton player..
no one didn't even stand up and cheer when we scored.

No one stood up and cheered? Not even the City fans?

Why would he even be there if he wasn't in the matchday squad.Probably a loan deal as I don't think they could afford a fee or pay his full salary.

Personally I would prefer they sign him permanently than a loan unless they are paying 15k a week of his supposed 20k weekly wage!
We are in such a strong position having got most of ours in and can now wait and get what we want for all of the players we are shifting as other teams get anxious in buying etc.
It will also allow NW to make further moves on players for us.

I see your point but for every week that passes, the club are paying thousands on dead wood wages

Noone is currently on £25,000 approx a week, City would have to take a massive loss once again.

He did his part in the promotion year, and one of our better players in the prem year. I wouldn't see him as a massive loss tbh, i would say we HAD pretty good value from him, just right time to move on.

Disagree, he's cost us £millions for a very very inconsistent player and surely City can't keep affording to waste £millions like you both usually say
Warnock now brings in consistent players who give their all for have the money and that's what I prefer

Couldn't disagree more.I'd put money on Burton to stay up before I put money on Villa to win the division.I hope he goes on loan until Jan with a clause not to play against us if it comes first,I hope he then tears the rest of the league a new one(which we all Know he's capable of doing) and then we can sell in Jan thereby not losing as much as just letting him go or paying him up.The sticking point with this guy has always been his salary so a loan move may just benefit all in the long run.

this.one of our best players in the prem gets said often.but truth is.
only 13 prem starts and got taken off in the majority of them.plus 5 as a sub.
value for money.?..we have certainly signed at least a couple of dozen since who have contributed far less.. so i supose he has been VFM.

This sounds like best option. If he fires like you say then come January he becomes a valuable asset rather than an expensive burden.

Hope he does move on, seems like a nice bloke but he has been infuriating me for years with his predictable wing play of cutting back in on his left foot and putting in a s*** ball into the box. The game against Newcastle was the last straw for me and seemed to be for Warnock as well. I always thought he worked hard though, so I will give him credit for that, but he's not the player he was and I really do think its time for pastures new. hopefully Burton take him and he does well there.

agree. there dont seem to be a queue to sign him ATM and 20 games out on loan might change that ,if not i dont see we will be any worse off for it.
