There is a long season ahead but Warnock has made no bones about dreaming big this time around. He's got an eighth promotion in his sights and has brought in several new faces over a successful summer.

Kadeem Harris is out for two-three months injured
Lee Camp, Matt Connolly and Callum Paterson are also sidelined
Cardiff have had offers for Stuart O’Keefe, but no sale at the moment
The Bluebirds may also look to sign more players before the window closes
Neil Warnock revealed his targets for Kenneth Zohore and his admiration for Burton Albion.

" EVERYTHING IS BELOW " :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Neil Warnock:

'I'm excited!'

I’m looking forward to it. I’m not a pre-season manager. I enjoy getting the lads together, but I need an edge to games so I’m glad we’re up and running.

Neil Warnock has confirmed the Kadeem Harris winger is sidelined for two or three months.

Cardiff will be without Kadeem Harris,Lee Camp, Callum Paterson and Matt Connolly at the Pirelli Stadium.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"A lot. The fans down here have been fantastic to me."

"There will be one or two putting a bet on with the odds we are, but if we have a good or great season I love to make people smile, I want to give them something to talk about at the weekend and feel part of the cub and the area, that’s my responsibility."

"I’m slowly getting my team together, I’m pleased with. I’d probably like one or two but the squad is good and we could give anyone a good game. Burton will be as difficult with Villa because every point you warn it."
Warnock

How many goals will Ken get?

Warnock: "You could say 20, 50, it don’t bother me. I want him to score as many as he can, but his contribution to the team is as good when he doesn’t score, his lay offs and passing has improved. But he’s hungry, he wants to score."

Warnock on Tan and the Cardiff hierarchy

Neil Warnock:

"He’s been quiet really, just pleased we’ve been ticking on. We haven’t spent a fortune."

"They’ve supported with what I can get. Every manager wants one or two more but I’ve not gone to them and asked for another player. We’ll see when the season gets underway."

NEIL WARNOCK:

"There’s two or three clubs after Stuart, but I have to be a little bit careful at the moment."

"Last week when Aron Gunnarsson went down and we had no Loic (Damour) to bring on and with Halford playing right back it was a little bit thin, it triggered my thoughts."

"I’m not really in a rush, O’Keefe might play in the cup. There’s nothing sufficient with the others, people are dipping their toes in the water and after a few bad results there will probably be more concrete offers. Two or three have offered a deal but nothing to warrant him going."

Neil Warnock on transfers:

"It depends on how we start, the injury situation, there’s loads of things before I actually ask if I can do anything."

"I wouldn’t put it beyond bringing somebody in. You never know, things might go well and we don’t have to... I’ll leave it in the air."

"There are players available in the next few weeks. I don’t think we’re looking to bring top drawer money player in, more of a squad player, the sort of money we’d have from O’Keefe if he went we’d use to bring another in."

Questions I have for Mr.Warnock himself:

Can we have an Update on Rhys Healey?
Are you targeting any more potential new signings?
Is the chemistry between players great?
What fixtures is he looking forward to?
What was the reason behind giving Lee Tomlin the number 7 Shirt?
Why that Cardiff play an away fixture for the first match of this season?
Are there any other players leaving, Noone, Pilkington?
Before this season kicks off whats his predictions for top 6?

Kadeem Harris injury

Neil Warnock has confirmed the winger is sidelined for two or three months.

Neil Warnock:

His ankle, he did it a few weeks ago so he’ll have an operation because the surgeon thinks it could go again even after rehab so it has to be tightened up a bit. It’s disappointing because he was flying but that’s life, you have to get on with it.

"We’ve lost Kadeem for a while, he has to have an operation on Monday, so we could be without him two or three months I’d imagine which is a blow to us. We are without Connolly injured, with Patterson and Camp, so we have two or three out missing for a while. So we have to be a bit lucky with injuries now."

"They’ve supported with what I can get. Every manager wants one or two more but I’ve not gone to them and asked for another player. We’ll see when the season gets underway."

"The Championship is probably the most competitive league in the world, the bookies have got us down there which you can understand with what we’ve spent."

"But I’m happy, everybody’s together, Vincent Tan and Ken Choo, and Mehmet and fans have been great. We have to give it our best shot really. My head says we should be in the bottom half and mid-table would be a reasonable season but my heart wants more than that, that’s our objective, you have to aim for the top in any walk of life. I don’t see any reason we shouldn’t try and aim higher than mid-table."

It's Warnock's 38th season in management!

Yes, it’s my 50th year in football - it sounds ancient doesn’t it! My wife’s illness and the Rotherham situation means I live for today, I don’t worry about things, my only challenge is to please myself, I don’t worry about the sack like other managers, I do the best I can with what I’ve got.

Burton Albion: The miracle of the last 10 years?

Neil Warnock:

"It gave me a great grounding. I spoke to the chairman and people I know are coming to the game, it’s family orientated club and always will be, it’s great to go there. If you told me when I was managing all those years ago they would be playing in Championship I’d say you were stupid."

"They haven’t got as much accolades as they should, It’s the miracle of the last 10 years. Last year the lads said they were battered up there abut I’m hoping we‘re ready for it and the challenge ahead."

How good can Kenneth Zohore become?

NEIL WARNOCK:

It’s the big question ahead of the new season... can Kenneth Zohore continue last season’s sparking form? Or even get better? This is what Neil Warnock thinks..

"I’ll tell you in a few months. He’s taken on what I asked of him so quickly, he’s a better player in pre-season than he was when he finished last season, but I’m biased. I think he enjoys the freedom I give him, he’s quietly confident in his own ability and I wouldn’t like to mark him if I’m honest. He’s not in the charts for the odds for top scorer and I was surprised, but I think you have moments in career which change your life and he’s had that moment."

"Jeppo (Ronnie Jepson) spends a lot of time with him and he listens, he can still improve but he’s still a youngster. Another improvement in the next 6 months you’ll see a very good player."

How many goals will Ken get?

Warnock: "You could say 20, 50, it don’t bother me. I want him to score as many as he can, but his contribution to the team is as good when he doesn’t score, his lay offs and passing has improved. But he’s hungry, he wants to score."

What about O'Keefe?

The midfielder has been subject to interest from Portsmouth, but Warnock doesn’t want to sell on the cheap. He needs squad depth, as he reveals here:

NEIL WARNOCK:

"There’s two or three clubs after Stuart, but I have to be a little bit careful at the moment."

"Last week when Aron Gunnarsson went down and we had no Loic (Damour) to bring on and with Halford playing right back it was a little bit thin, it triggered my thoughts."

Warnock on Neymar: The £200 million man

"I was flabbergasted when Trevor Francis went for £1million and thought what on earth was happening. It’s alright saying I wish I had £200m, but there’s clubs in this league spent a lot £50m, and we’ve spent £3m."

"I’m not sure they haven’t put pressure on themselves. We’ve spent sensibly, but what we need is the crowd to get off their backsides and support the team, especially next weekend, because only way to be successful is being a fortress at home and that’s the whole club. The fans aren’t daft, they see the bookies have got us 15th, but we need all the help we can. I’d like to think we could get more next week and get behind us."
