' NEIL WARNOCK ISSUES ONE LAST RALLYING CALL '

Neil Warnock issues one final rallying cry ahead of Cardiff City's bid to secure what would be manager's 'miracle' eighth promotion

"The fans can help now, they can get behind us. We've sold out at Burton. To have any chance whatsoever we've got to have packed house home and away and verbally getting behind us and willing us on."

By Ian Mitchelmore

Friday 4th August 2017

Neil Warnock has issued one final rallying cry to the Cardiff City faithful as he looks to secure what he says would be a "miracle" eighth promotion of his managerial career with the Bluebirds.

The Yorkshireman has made no secrets of his desire to guide the Bluebirds into the promised land of the Premier League, but has seen his side written off by the bookies as well as a number of journalists.

He was determined to strengthen his squad as swiftly as possible to boost his side's bid of securing a top six finish, and did so by adding no fewer than seven players to his ranks well ahead of the league opener against Burton at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.

And ahead of Cardiff's clash with the Brewers, Warnock has said supporters have every right to be optimistic ahead of the new campaign, adding that the team spirit at the club could be one of the key factors in the club's promotion bid.

Neil Warnock has transformed things at Cardiff City

"There's no reason why we shouldn't be optimistic," Warnock said .

"I think my eighth promotion would probably the biggest miracle ever and everybody's got to aim high before the season starts.

"I think we've got a better squad to cope with adversity now, to change a game and to win a game. I think we've got more ammunition now and that's what I'm pleased with, I think we've got more options.

"I think all my career, I've always had certain things to spur me on.

"They're realistic (bookmakers). We should finish 14th or 15th which is what the bookies are saying. But the bookies have never been in a dressing room with fantastic team spirit."

Warnock admitted during the course of his debut season in the Welsh capital that he fell out of love with the game a few years ago, but rediscovered his mojo during his time with Rotherham.

And the veteran boss has said that Cardiff are "made to measure" for him and his ambitions of securing an eighth promotion as a manager.

"I don't think I'd be sat behind a desk at my age having been a manager for 37 years if I didn't have that drive," added Warnock.

"I probably lost it a couple of years ago for 18 months and I thought retirement might be everything. When I went to Rotherham it set me going again and coming here with my wife's backing aswell, I really seem to be thriving and I'm enjoying it more than I have ever before.

"I think this club's a fabulous club and it's made to measure for someone like me. We haven't done anything yet but I think we can give everyone a game.

"I've never had a dressing room like I've got now in the Premier League. I love building a dressing room, building a club and off the field aswell. I like everybody to be together in the city and people think it's an easy job but it's not. It's how I am and how I want things to be, when everybody's pulling in the same direction.

"It doesn't matter whether you're selling tickets in the office or you're the secretary or manager, everybody wants to be in that position where you can help.

"The fans can help now, they can get behind us. We've sold out at Burton. To have any chance whatsoever we've got to have packed house home and away, verbally getting behind us and willing us on."

It seems that he really does have a right and happy dressing room who are prepared to fight tooth and nail for each other. First time for a while I bet.

Yes a united dressing room, full of passion and with Warnock at the helm, best for years :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

A united club and now needs a united fan base which I can see happening, No reason/excuses why we can't now get back to how we once were as fans.
We should start selling out most away games and getting 20,000 plus home games :thumbright: :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird: :ayatollah:

I do agree Annis and I'm also hearing of quite a few who are 'coming back' which is great.
The trouble is, because of all the crap that we've put up with in the last few years theres a large section of fans who have moved on to other things to do on a Saturday afternoon and suddenly people are using the time for families etc. It's hard to get them back but it's good that the club and NW in particular are trying to address it. Good on him I say.
Literally cannot wait for the start of the season.
PS. I'm over in Alcudia for a week with my family at the end of August. Never been to that resort before. Do you know it st all?
Cheers in advance.

It will soon be time for the talking to stop and the action to begin,a lot of optimism has been expressed on here as well has a degree of missgivin particularly from yours truly but at the end of the day we are all Bluebird fans and want the club to do well so good luck to you all and more importantly to Warnock and his boys

I do agree quite a few of the old diehards have moved on and family life takes over, but thankfully South Wales has thousands of new Bluebirds coming through.

Andrew,

Alcudia is at least an hours drive from me. Ive been there a few times.

More luxury hotels up there than down South where I am.
Its more modern/new and more up and coming.

They have a castle/markets and massive beach front.

Not many Spanish live up there, but its a great family resort :thumbright: :thumbright:

You will enjoy, weather boiling :thumbright: :thumbright:
