Former Cardiff City shot stopper and current Livingston No.1 Neil Alexander spoke with iFollow Cardiff City after appearing for his new team in Friday’s pre-season friendly at Cardiff City Stadium.
“It was nice to come back and I enjoyed every minute of it,” Neil began. “I had a great six years at Cardiff City and the reception I received from the home crowd was superb.
“The Cardiff City fans were great to me and I have always had a fantastic relationship with them.
“The match wasn’t about me, it was about Livingston vs. Cardiff City, but I was very touched with the ovation.”
Alexander made 234 appearances during his time in South Wales after signing from Livingston, and the 39-year-old told iFollow Cardiff City of his hopes for the campaign following his return to Almondvale Stadium.
“It’s going to be a very tough league with a lot of good teams in the Scottish Championship this year.
“Staying in the division would be a good season and hopefully we’d build on that to later challenge for promotion.
“We’re a young, inexperienced squad, but we’ll take a number of lessons from this match that will hopefully hold us in good stead for the upcoming season.”

Jock, he was always receptive of City fans and did a great job for us whilst he was here!

One of the top three keepers in my time I think alongside Marshy, Heaton, and Gavin Ward.

He's a top bloke. You could see how much he appreciated his standing ovation. Good luck to him and Livingston for the season.

Although could i get away with calling it three because Marshy and Heaton were interchangeable in the same side for a while - i mean did you ewver see them in the same room together?!

He was treated shabbily by Rangers when they wanted to cut his wages to the bone, never Let Rangers or The City down and a great example to younger players.

Isn't that what happened with us, he took a pay cut at the club so Jones could bring purse in, with the promise of when more cash was available he would be given a raise back to his normal pay but the club decided against it and let him go for free. To me he is our best keeper ever, for the simple reason he was with us when we had shit training facilities just imagine how good he could of been if the club had he facilities we have now.
