Grealish injured in pre-season friendly

Mon Jul 31, 2017 2:56 am

Out for up to 3 months, as if we needed another reason to look forward to 1st home game :bluescarf:

Jack Grealish is set to miss up to three months of Aston Villa's season after the freak injury he sustained in the final friendly.

The 21-year-old midfielder had a kidney operation this morning.

He was taken off midway through the first-half of the 0-0 draw against Watford at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon, suffering severe pain to his ribs and hip.

Shame, as I was looking forward to seeing him play actually.

Good, type of player I can't stand. lightweight mouthy and against us looked for free kicks and penalties every time he got tackled.

He wouldn't have played anyway, he'd have been on the bench.

Pity though, I was also hoping that he'd be involved - He certainly does a good job of winding your players and fans up.

As a villa fan how do you feel when you see him diving and constantly trying to get a free kick for any slight touch?

Grealish won't get much sympathy and he's got one of the biggest reps of simulation cheating at the top levels. Not so long ago, a few no-nonsense defenders would have really given him something to roll on the floor about based on his pathetic behaviour.

I don't feel anything because he doesn't dive constantly. It is just something that you people have decided he does. Only Cardiff fans claim this - I've never heard any other fans say it.

It stems from a game last season when he was clearly targeted by Warnock, had lumps kicked out of him and ended with Warnock spitting his dummy out when his tactics backfired on him.

I take it you mean the game at Villa Park? I didn't go to that game so didn't see but in the game at CCS he constantly moaned whenever someone went near him, that was after he picked himself back up because whoever was near him breathed too hard.

Yet strangely, he wasn't booked for diving. Funny how none of these refs see all this "constant diving" that you all see isn't it?

You can deny it all you want but his behaviour when you played us here was embarrassing.
I'm just talking about this game as I rarely watch Villa and Grealish play so I don't know what he's like normally.

If I remember correctly even his own manager Steve Bruce commented publicly that he should "man up" or words to that effect.

Re: Grealish injured in pre-season friendly

I wasn't at that game but the stage was definitely set beforehand.

He was battered for 90 minutes at VP so he knew what was coming.

People on here claimed he ran after the ref holding up an imaginary card - This was nonsense and did not happen. They also claim he got your player sent off and dived for the penalty which is also nonsense as can be seen from 1.35 onwards in the clip below. We all know what Warnock is like and how he's prepared to allow his sides to "fracture" a few of the rules in order to get points. I've no complaints about this and never have - My complaint is don't whinge like a baby when your plan backfires:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZy6f6qEZc0&t=37s

The game at yours came after he had been battered for 90 minutes. If you are on a pitch hving lumps kicked out of you, wouldn't you ask the ref to get a grip? Even Bruce claimed he was "kicked from pillar to post" both games:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38491607

How would you all feel if our players kicked Zohore out of the game? I'd wager it would be a different story then.

You simply can't cheat (and kicking lumps out of a player is cheatng) and then whinge that the target is complaining about it.

AV, I was at the game at Villa Park and believe me, Grealish DID run up to the ref brandishing an imaginary card.

He certainly didn't get our player sent off - Peltier I think it was, was stupid enough to earn two yellow cards himself and it very much was a clear penalty, Grealish cleverly inviting a lunge from our rather ponderous captain which clearly caught him.

He has undoubted skill and there is no question that his skill often leads to him being fouled. There's also little doubt that he is prone to going down a little easily shall we say? And then bleating about it to the ref.

Has there been any interest shown in him over the summer at all? I would have thought that perhaps his game would be suited more to the Premier League than the blood and guts of the Championship.

Re: Grealish injured in pre-season friendly

Tue Aug 01, 2017 5:15 pm

Grealish is an over-rated cheating tw*t that goes down quicker than a cheap whore. Another over hyped media-made great young hope due to the fact he's English. And yet another that fails to produce. What's he achieved in his career thus far - a relegation & a mid-table finish for the biggest spenders in the division? Must be some player him.

And, as someone else said, he definately did run to the ref brandishing an imaginary card.

Bruce set the scene prior to the first game by calling for the officials to be strong against the perceived strong arm tactics of a Warnock side. He's done this wherever he's been to get into the head of the refs/linesmen. He did it again before the second meeting.

You get challenges in the Championship (nowhere near enough in terms of physicality imo but there you go) - get used to it. We are far from being close to the most physical side in this division, yet listening to Bruce you'd think we were Leeds of the 70s.

With Grealish out I think Villa will be a better side.

Re: Grealish injured in pre-season friendly

Well don't whinge if you're getting a few kicks during a match. It's football, it's the championship get on on with it and man the f**k up.

Nobody is whinging about a "few kicks". He gets those every time he plays. Even players in the big, bad, nasty championship have to play by the same rules as everyone else, as your number 3 discovered.

And Grealish did 100% NOT run after the ref. In the incident that everyone is referring to, Grealish was still sat on his backside after yet another hatchet job from the number 17.

As for the media focus - It's all been about his off field antics, not because he's some great young English hope.
