Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce says the club need to sell more players if they are to continue being active in the transfer market before deadline day.

Bruce explained: “As I have said many times we are on the cusp of Financial Fair Play and we still need to get more out really.

“Of course I am like any other manager and would love a huge amount of money to spend, of course I would.

“But at the moment I would like to box a bit clever. The one thing you can’t do is be on the thick end of Financial Fair Play. I am aware of that. There are one or two bits bubbling along."

They'll be giving players away soon!

Anyone on the cusp of the squad we fancy? They must have a huge squad and noticed in preseason a lot of their youngsters are getting a game too. There's gotta be some experience looking to leave.

They have McCormack on 50k a week and I bet Micah Richards is on roughly the same. They definitely need to off load to stay within FPP

I'm a bit biased. I used to watch him when he was 6, playing a year above his age before Villa signed him. His dad's a massive Villa fan so I'll always be supportive of him and want him to succeed, more so then someone with no connection to the club, other than he's paid to play.

Grealish is the most skillful, gifted player in the Villa squad (and his team mates say that, not me). Unfortunately, like every other attack minded player at the moment, his style of play is restricted under Bruce. I think that Grealish is good enough to play in the PL but ironically is unlikely to start in the championship whilst Bruce is the manager.

Thanks for the Reply AV3.The lad is talented alright.Im actually a Blues fan but know plenty of Villa fans.Seems to split opinions.Some question his attitude though none doubt his ability.Your right about Bruce .Sets up not to lose first and foremost.I dont mind him .we had some good years under him .Maybe JT being there will help Grealish.Perhaps seeing a bloke who has won everything by being very professional in his approach to the game will rub off on JG

jtc - My feeling about Bruce is that time has possibly moved on, even in the short period that Bruce has been managing. His side of 2002 with Savage at the heart of it was very good and was probably (imo) his best period as a manager, even though he also got Sunderland to their highest league position for so many years.

Last season, from what I saw, most sides in the top 10 tried to play football and took the game to their opponents. Bruce did not do this and is happy to concede possession in "safe" areas of the pitch. My argument is that if you don't have possession, you can't create chances.

I read an interesting statistic recently which stated that the top 2 championship sides all scored 70+ goals over the past 10 years except in 3 cases. Villa got less than 50 last season and I can't see where another 20 odd will come from. Grealish was actually 2nd highest scorer with 5. We also have Lansbury & Hourihane who just like Grealish have had their playing style restricted. They got 1 goal between them since joining in January. I bet your Villa mates will also have split opinions on those two as well. For me, there is a common denominator - Bruce. All 3 cannot have had identical dips in form since they were being managed by Bruce.

Yes,it seems like he brought two attacking players then got caught up in his natural mindset of not losing .From what little iv seen the two didnt play like they did for their previous teams.Like they,ve been curtailed a bit.Bruce has a lot of pressure on him this season
