Cardiff City manager Warnock happy to remain with Morrison as captain
By Jordan Jones

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has given his backing to club-captain Sean Morrison ahead of the season by saying he has no plan to change captain.

The 26 year-old recently signed a new contract whilst away with the squad in their pre-season tour of Cornwall and has received the backing of his manager.

And with a £3m bid from Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the summer, it was a test of the Bluebirds’ resolve to reject it, showcasing how they want to maintain the key players in their squad for next season.

Morrison who was originally appointed captain by then-manager Paul Trollope and now Neil Warnock has decide to continue as it was last season by keeping Morrison as captain.

“I’ve got my same captain since I’ve been here, I’ve got no problems with that. I’m delighted, I wouldn’t ask him to sign a three-year contract and then kick him out would I?”

The centre-back played the whole ninety-minutes of Cardiff’s final pre-season fixture as they romped home to a 4-0 victory over Scottish Championship side Livingston, where a clean sheet will inspire confidence into the defensive back line.

As well as commenting on his decision to retain Morrison as club captain, manager Neil Warnock also said that he knows a majority of his starting line-up for the season opener against Burton Albion next Saturday.

“A majority really, probably nine positions, something like that. I’ll have to decide on the other couple that’s in my mind really.”

It’s looking ever-likely though that Morrison will be leading the line for the Bluebirds next week as Cardiff begin their quest for promotion.

Morrison is the only decision I disagree with that Warnock has done so far, for me he should not be our Captain for many many reasons I've said before, but Warnock is our manager and so I have to respect his decision :thumbright: :bluebird:

How many managers have made him captain?

They will know their players better than any of us.

He's still fairly young for the job and if the likes of Warnock have faith in him that's good enough for me.

Should just back him now .

He was excellent end of last season and has been in pre season.

He may well be a good player but that doesn't make him a good captain

He wouldn't be my choice for captain but what's the job of the captain there days? I'm not sure they have that much influence on the pitch and others can lead without being captain. It's just as important how he acts off the pitch with the other players and the manager.

Underrated player, was in demand this summer and showed his loyalty by signing a new contract. Wish our supporters could get behind him now!! :bluescarf:

Gunnar should be our skipper hands down, but I think Warnock sees Morrison as his City's Chris Morgan and he knows that Sean will do exactly as he wants.

I think it's good Neil doesn't give it to Sol as it's good to keep Bamba away from any added pressure, but Warnock's man management is difficult to question as he knows them best and it's great we now have at least 3 leaders on the pitch.
That is a stark contrast to Trolly's time when they had the enthusiasm and direction coached out of them.

We as supporters do not know who would be a good captain lets be honest we are supporters the managers know best and if Warnock who knows far more than any of us will even know then we have to support it.

If gunnerson didn't like it he could go as a few clubs want him so if the players and manager are happy then I support Morrison as captain Warnock clearly sees something

Will he even start though? Bamba and Bruno surely the starting CBs. Not sold on Morrison at all
