"He's already got Bristol City fuming!" - Fans react as Cardiff City sign Lee Tomlin

Lee Tomlin becomes Cardiff City's seventh signing of the summer having joined the Bluebirds from Severnside rivals Bristol City on a three-year deal.

The versatile forward - who joined for an undisclosed fee - follows Lee Camp, Neil Etheridge, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Danny Ward, Callum Paterson and Loic Damour in making the move to south Wales ahead of the 2017-18 Championship campaign.

The former Bristol City, Middlesbrough, Bournemouth, Peterborough United and Rushden and Diamonds man has linked up with Cardiff's first team squad ahead of their pre-season campaign.

And fans on either side of the Severn Bridge have reacted to the news of Tomlin's transfer to Cardiff on social media.

Here's the pick of the reaction.

What the Cardiff faithful said...

Welcome to Cardiff, good luck.

Leeds said the same about bamba. He'd only play well for a month and would go off the boil? Warnock gets the best out of these types though that's his speciality!

It's interesting that Warnock compared him with Taarabt, who played his best football for QPR under him , as did Faurlin.
He's not your typical workhorse at all, and we haven't seen his kind of player for a long time.
Hopefully, Warnock will do for Tomlin what he did for Taarabt.

Their forum is a thing of beauty at the moment. I urge you to read it at your earliest opportunity. Just when you thought we couldn't take the piss out of the useless fickle carrot crunching cretins anymore, we go and do it some royally. No fruit machine will be safe in Brizzle tonight. I cannot wait for Bristol next season. Oooaaaarrr.

The title of this thread is incorrect! Majority of worzels are not fuming they are pleased to get a good fee!

If Warnock gets him fit he will have a major day in our push for promotion

One of them commented that they are just pleased to get a good fee equating to a net profit of £500k. Until it was pointed out that any profit was eroded by his wages. They hate us so much more than the White Sox and this is killing them. And its written in the stars that he'll score the winner at Crapton Gate.

Don't know why they are so worked up about this on their forum. It's not like they are rivals of ours. Roathie put that suggestion to bed yesterday.
Sadly had to sit down with my father who's in his sixties and explain to him why he cannot look at Bristol being his rivals.....because the word "Jack's" is mentioned more times than "wurzels" on an internet forum.
Happily he took this on-board and from now on will only see Swansea as our rivals......thank you internet.

Just reading their forum a load of their fans cannot believe we payed just under £3m for him and all his wages. They claiming that he seems to get in shape pre season, the balloons up during the season and starts having tantrums. I am very cautious about this deal, £3m is a lot to gamble on a player with his reputation regardless of the so called warnock effect.

It appears Tomlin's relationship with Lee Johnson was toxic to say the least. Warnock isn't a fan of Lee Johnson either, so the pair should get on like a house on fire.

Bristol here, just thought I would give you my take on Lee Tomlin.
On his day ( when his confidence is high) he is a real joy to watch, he has stunning ability when 'he wants' to use it.
There is no doubt you have signed a quality footballer. He seemed to fall out with Lee Johnson ( not hard to do!) midway through last season, and it seemed then that he would be on his way sooner than later.
He is your classic confidence footballer, when he's up for it he can do literally anything with a football, when his confidence is low, or if someone/something pees him off, then you play with 10 men, it really is that clear cut.
Personally I think Warnock will know how to get the best out of him for you, he will relish the challenge.
But, if those two fall out ( I wouldn't think it would be hard! ) then anything could happen... yes anything!.

As for us BCFC fans "fuming" about him leaving, I think you will find that a lot of us could see him leaving 15 games into last season, and we only signed him 12 months ago!.

I actually hope he does well for you ( but you lose every game!) because a good Lee Tomlin is an exciting watch.

What we paid for him is pure speculation I think. The term "undisclosed fee" could also mean we paid a lot less than the wurzels would like to admit to their fans.We all know he comes with baggage but at least we know what this guys capable of which is more than can be said for of our previous big signings.
