For those travelling to Burton, there's a few options for a drink. Over the last few years, Villa have used Burton as a stop off on the train to Derby, in order to avoid the inevitable wrapping up at Derby station. The town centre is fairly small with a few decent pubs - Ideal if you want to go on a bit of a leisurely pub crawl. It is a bit of a treck to the ground though and I'd allow about half hour to walk it or ideally get a taxi.

There is a pub not far from the ground (10 mins max) with a massive paved outside that (last time I was there for a pre-season friendly) everyone can stand outside in the sun. Convenient but gets packed with away fans.

Those driving might fancy stopping off just before Burton at Barton (under Needwood) which is on the A38 15 mins from the ground (I'd allow half hour to get there, get parked up and into the ground) The first place you hit is a newly purpose built marina with a nice big pub with an upstairs that overlooks the marina. It also has nice food. Being a grumpy old man who hates waiting at packed bars, this would be my choice (provided that I wasn't driving myself) as it is a nice pub in a quiet but great location.

Just up the road is Barton village which has 3 pubs along the high street which would also be nice & quietish on a Saturday lunch time

Same as us, we've stopped in Burton on route to Derby a couple of times.

Nice little town for a few beers.
