Championship side Birmingham City are lining up a summer move for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher, according to The Birmingham Mail.
The 21-year-old has been at St Mary’s since 2012 after beginning his youth career at Plymouth Argyle, and went on to make his professional debut for the Saints a year later in a League Cup defeat against Sunderland.
However, the England Under-20 international has managed just a further 19 appearances for the South Coast outfit, and last season spent the campaign on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers, in which time he scored 12 goals and laid on four assists for the Lancashire-based club but ultimately was unable to keep them in the second tier.
Nonetheless, his excellent goal-scoring exploits for Tony Mowbray’s side appears to have attracted interest from Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham, who are reportedly looking to secure a loan move for the Southampton forward.
The Blues narrowly avoided relegation last season thanks to victory on the final day of the season at Bristol City, but with the 70-year-old having already brought in Craig Gardner, Marc Roberts, and David Stockdale, it’s clear that Redknapp is aiming high with the Midlands outfit next term.
