The ex-Bluebird has found himself a new club

Former Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd has joined Japenese side Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.

The forward opted for a move abroad in 2014 when he joined Thai outfit Muangthong United before securing a switch to Japenese club Jubilo Iwata a year later.

He helped fire the latter to promotion by scoring 14 goals in 22 appearances.

And the former Bluebird has secured a move to fellow J1 League side Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.

“I’m happy to join Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo. The players and staff have treated me warmly,” Bothroyd said.

“The club’s great fans deserve results. I love scoring goals, but more than that I want to help the team win.

“I look forward to being able to play for the team and will work hard from today. Forza Sapporo!”

Bothroyd joined the Bluebirds from Wolves in 2008 and scored 45 times in his 133 appearances for the club.

He signed for Queens Park Rangers in 2011 after three years in the Welsh capital before moving abroad after a loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday during the 2012-13 campaign.

Good luck to him.
Must be a great experience travelling, living and playing in these different countries.
Probably getting a decent salary as well. Better than just reaching an age and retiring like most footballers do.

Agree there's def worse places than Thailand and Japan to finish your career off!
