QPR and Forest keen on former Cardiff City striker Joe Mason – ReportsBy Joshua SlackBoth Queens Park Rangers and Nottingham Forest are thought to be keen on signing former Cardiff City striker Joe Mason.
Since making the move to Molineux from the Bluebirds in 2016, the 26 year-old has failed to nail down a regular spot in the Wolverhampton Wanderers team.
And Mason, who joined Cardiff City from Plymouth Argyle is said to be a target for Championship rivals Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers.
Reports from GetWestLondon suggests that the two teams have registered an interest in the striker in an attempt to bolster their attacks ahead of the new Championship season.
Between 2011 and 2016, Mason made a total of 97 appearances in the Welsh Capital – scoring on 22 occasions. The striker endured his best spell under former manager Malky Mackay, when he netted in the League Cup final against Liverpool in 2012, alongside helping the Bluebirds make it into the Championship play-off places, only to lose to West Ham 5-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
The former Ireland under-21 international also had three successful loan spells at Bolton Wanderers, scoring 10 times in 28 appearances for the Trotters.
But since the striker’s move to the Wanderers he has struggled for game time – playing just 982 minutes of Championship football during the 2016/2017 season. The former Plymouth Argyle youth starlet started just nine games for Wolves, and came off the bench on 10 occasions in the Championship, where he hit the net on the mere three occasions.
With Mason needing game time and a chance to revitalise his footballing career, a move to either Nottingham Forest or Queens Park Rangers could be just what the striker needs.
