BID WAR FOR BAZ, RANGERS STAR BARRIE MCKAY WANTED BY CARDIFF CITY AND NOTTINGHAM FOREST

2nd July 2017

CARDIFF CITY and Nottingham Forest are set to start a bidding war for Rangers winger Barrie McKay.

SunSport can reveal the two English Championship clubs are seriously interested in signing the Ibrox ace.

McKay, 22, has less than a year to run on his Gers contract but was left out of the club’s Europa League squad and has refused to pen a new deal under boss Pedro Caixinha.

Forest and former Ibrox boss Mark Warburton remains a huge fan of the winger and it’s believed he has already made a tentative offer, which has NOT met Gers’ £750,000 valuation of McKay.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock, who targeted Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes before his Celtic switch, is monitoring the situation and is expected to make a swoop this week.

Barrie McKay next club odds: English duo and Rangers' Premiership rivals among top contenders to land Ibrox starlet.

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has left the winger out of his squad for Thursday's Europa League tie at Ibrox.

Bookmaker Bet Victor has released odds on Barrie McKay's next club, after the Rangers winger was left out of Pedro Caixinha's squad to face Progres Niederkorn on Thursday.

McKay turned down a new deal at Rangers earlier this year and looks certain to leave Ibrox after entering the final 12 months of his existing contract.

Nottingham Forest have been strongly linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who excelled under Reds boss Mark Warburton at Rangers.

And, somewhat unsurprisingly, Forest have been made 5/2 frontrunners to sign him before September 3, although they could face competition from fellow English Championship side Cardiff City, who are 6/1 second favourites.

At 8/1, Rangers' rivals Aberdeen could also mount a challenge, with Jonny Hayes sold to Celtic and another Dons winger, Niall McGinn, not expected back at Pittodrie this coming campaign.

Rangers have already prised Ryan Jack from Aberdeen and bid for his old teammate Kenny McLean this week, manager Derek McInnes told The Daily Record.

Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City or Aberdeen? Where will Rangers' Barrie McKay end up?
