Cardiff City outcast Theo Wharton joins York City
Sunday 2nd July 2017
Young midfielder Theo Wharton has agreed a permanent switch from Cardiff City to York City.
The 22-year-old failed to make a single first-team league appearance for the Bluebirds despite graduating through the academy, playing two FA Cup games in 2012 and 2013 in his only senior games.
He now heads for Bootham Crescent after spending latter part of last season on loan at Weston-super-Mare.
FA Trophy winners York suffered relegation to the National League North last season.
Wharton joins on a one-year contract having been officially unveiled by the Minstermen on Friday afternoon. He's been capped by Saint Kitts and Nevis after making appearances for Wales up to Under-21 level.
