Ex-Bluebird commends new signing on decision to move to Cardiff City

Heart of Midlothian’s Don Cowie says former team mate Callum Pateron’s move to Cardiff City is the perfect move for the Scottish international.
Cowie who made 44 appearances for Hearts last season and captained the Edinburgh club played alongside Paterson up until the versatile defender’s season-ending injury
Paterson joined Cardiff on a free transfer after his contract came to an end at Tynecastle, but the Bluebirds will have to pay £400,000 in compensation fee due to him being part of Hearts academy system.
And since his move, he has received the blessing from someone who played for the Bluebirds for three years, after being impressed with how many times Paterson featured for Hearts over the years.
Speaking to Capital City Press after revealing Hearts’ new home strip, the former Bluebird predicts he will become a star once he dons the blue shirt of Cardiff City.
“I think Hearts are quite unique in the sense that you get your chance early. It’s not like they are in their early 20s but have not played much football. Callum must have about 150 games and is ready to move on.
“Cardiff is a great city and great move for Callum. He is ready to move on, challenge himself and I think he is just perfect for English football. He’s an attacking full-back, powerful and quick.”
Cowie was part of the Cardiff City side which reached the League Cup final, which he played in and successfully scored a penalty. A season later he played 25 times as the Bluebirds as they won the Championship title, before playing 14 times in the English Premier League.
After leaving Cardiff City following their relegation from the English top flight he moved to Wigan Atletic, where he would play under former Cardiff manager Malky Mackay for a few months, before returning to Scotland to join Hearts.
