Scottish Premiership or Championship

So opinions please. Jonny Hayes has an opportunity to play in the championship or remain in Scottish football. Cardiff and celtic have both matched the fee and salary. Obviously championship offers imo opinion higher level of football. Celtic will walk league again and go into Europa after failing to qualify for champions league. What option would you take ??

No brainer for me. The opportunity to play in front of massive crowds, the earnings potential, European football, playing for a team who have been European champions and are well known throughout the footballing world, winning trophies, or playing in front of 12k to 15k crowds for a small to average size team. As a Cardiff fan since a kid, I would opt for my home town club, but from a neutral point of view it would have to be Celtic every time.

He has also played Scottish football for years . As a player I'd like to try to championship in the hope id step up to Prem.

Tough one . My mates and I are split on it .

Is celtic and Scottish trophies worth staying as they've little to no competition ?

I suppose only a player who is given that choice can decide, but for me it would be do I want to play for a team known and followed by many throughout the footballing world, or a small club based in S Wales who have spent one brief season in half a century playing at the top level. I think Celtic could compete and probably beat quite a few teams in the PL (they have played the likes of Liverpool and Leeds in previous European Campaigns), and I also think they would be way too strong for a Championship side. For me personally it would be Cardiff, but I think for most it would be Celtic. Probably worth asking Ledley this question.

Over the years a number of decent Scottish players have just stayed North of the border .

I think Hayes will stay in Scotland but normally if celtic call it's the height of a Scottish persons career .

The Championship is obviously a better league than the SPL but the Bheasts are clearly a bigger club than the City. Hayes would be a good signing but if he prefers the Stade Nonce to the CCS we move on, I'm sure Warnock will have other targets.

I'm pretty sure the Championship has better depth than the Scottish prem so its a tougher league.I'd put the current Celtic side on a par with any of the sides that got promoted this season providing they could play to the same level every week and not just get up for the big games. On Hays I think there may be other factors involved such as the transfer fee and weather we would give them a big slice of it up front or not.I'm pretty sure we can match Celtics personal terms with the added incentive of a promotion bonus and an enhanced contract should we reached the promised land.Celtic by definition wouldn't be able to match that.I think also that Aberdeen may well find 1.2m too much to resist as the Celtic deal hinges on another player going the opposite way which apparently is in doubt too.

Very true - Hopefully he`ll sign for us but can only see him sign for Celtic at this stage , we should have given £750K in Jan when we had chance !!

If he was 25 or under I would say the championship every time. When was the last Scotland > Premier league transfer ? Prove yourself in the championship and get your big money (real big money) move to the land of milk and honey that way.

As a 30 year old (this week) you stay in Scotland with a 3 year deal. The championship exposes you weaknesses whether that is physical ,mental or technical. Why risk it with little reward because no premier league club is signing a 33 year old championship player and that's where the dosh is.

Chapionship is [pretty far ahead of the Scottish premier in terms of quality, I can vouch for that 100%.

However, Celtic have huge crowds (50,000 season ticket holder maybe more this year) and you get the opportunity to play champions league and to challenge (and win!) the league and cups each year. Plus Celtic can pay decent wages so wouldn't be a surprise if he went to Celtic over us.

yeah i agree, im not to sure about the amount of season tickets they sell but their champions league involvement means they are getting roughly 15-20m a yr from that competition alone, plus hes at an age where he may feel if he goes to celtic he can end his career with a few trophies too
