Are people who are from Manchester proud of London when an FA Cup final gets held there? It was a great final, a superb venue and a great occasion in a really nice City - but 'proud' of a City? No.

The football club or the City? Can't recall ever being proud of a City in any capacity, whether it be one I live in or any other.
Cardiff is a fantastic City, lived there for many years, it has had some major investment so is naturally perfect for large finals due to the capacity of the Millenium Stadium and the structure of the City around it. I would imagine many more events will be held there too, as they should be.

Proud of a City, absolutely just as I am sure people from Manchester were of London when it was the main venue for the Olympics.
The CL final is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and Cardiff has hosted it superbly, as a nation we should be unbelievably proud of the City right now no matter where we come from.
I understand why you are being like you are though, I like Sven but why he's felt the need to have a pop at Swansea I don't know, a little bit childish on a proud night if you ask me

Remember the title of the thread. It's not "Cardiff must be proud of Cardiff", so the Manchester example is not relevant. Do you think people of Bolton were proud of Manchester? Or do you think it is fair to say they would be completely apathetic towards it, while acknowledging that is was an excellent event?
Cardiff as a City has an excellent sporting pedigree, I never had any doubt that it was capable of hosting such an event. I would hope it gets many more similar events. But in terms of pride - I have no more pride for Cardiff as a City as I do about Manchester as a City for hosting the Olympics.
Were you proud of Manchester then?

Just answered a question aimed at people not from there. Although on that subject, I highly expect much of this 'pride' is coming from people who arent from Cardiff, but claiming they are due to choosing to support a football team that also happens to play in the same City as the event in question. A bit like Man Utd fans from Hackney being proud of the City of Manchester for hosting the Olympics. All seems a bit disingenuous.
But anyone born, raised or living in Cardiff then I can understand a sense of pride, especially if you follow football. But I don't see why anyone would feel pride for an event held in a City they are not from, be that people of Merthyr, Manchester or Maidenhead... it was held in Cardiff.

When did Manchester host the Olympic Games then? Must of missed that one. I also said Cardiffians must have been proud.

I thought that was what a poster above said, I don't follow these things. Use any example if it is inaccurate, it all fits. Glasgow hosting the Champions League then. Did you have great pride in Glasgow?

Nope, I was pointing out that the people of Cardiff should be proud for showing the rest of the world that it was capable of holding the biggest club football cup final in Europe or quite possibly the world. They've put the City & Wales on the footballing world map.
Being a Cardiff City fan also it was awesome to see.

Last night was a night to be proud of your capital, what a showpiece with no trouble at all, bouncing atmosphere all day cardiff people mixing with the Spanish and Italian proud moment.

England being as big as it is maybe people from bury won't feel the sense of pride as us locals do as they live so far away from London, but maybe people on the outskirts of London would feel proud of the way an event was organised and run.

And why are you surprised that UEFA organised this without a hitch? They do it yearly.

Totally twisted my words there. I said you would have to be sick not to feel a little pride at the way my friend from Cardiff gave his final ticket to a Real Madrid fan without one, thank you and good night.
