A vote for May

Fri Jun 02, 2017 4:44 pm

A vote for May is a simple vote to privatise the NHS and continue to let already mega rich corporations and business men rule over our country not giving the average man a chance

While also making sure any young person looking for higher education can't afford it and can't afford a house either

Actually 20 thanks and currently studying economics at university in Cardiff. Think I know what I'm talking when it comes to the economy and the way taxation/funding works.

I did'nt at 20. I studied economics and then spent 33 years in business banking and also as a financial adviser and was always learning. I have been out of it for 11 years and things change so much, it would probably take me years to get back up to speed. Talking of education, who introduced tuition fees?

Re: A vote for May

You couldn't debate me properly so you tried to insult me by looking at my age. I will admit that I am lucky to be going to university but I have worked hard to get here.

I truly believe that every young person that wants to go to university to better themselves and provide themselves with a better future deserves the chance to do so.

No matter your background everyone child deserves equal opportunities in life

Whats wrong with privatising the NHS as long as its free at the point of use ?

There won't be any Mega rich corporations here to pay tax and can you point me to a time " when the working man had a chance" ?

There are too many pointless degree courses, fine is you want to take it but why should the country subsidise. My newphew is just graduating from an IT degree and has several decent offers already. Why shouldn't he pay back his loan ?

More tahn happy to hear Corbyns policies on making housing cheaper......Oh i get it, you want me to subsidise it

no. there are plenty of level sensible 19 year olds that dont believe they know ALL about taxation.
they are learning about it.

Privatisation means that it is run firstly for profits and not for quality of care like it should be. If you take the example of the rail ways. The railways have become privitised and the companies that own them walk away with huge profits each year.

As a nation we are taxed and some of this tax is then spent on infrastructure such a trains, tracks, tunnels basically all the important things when it comes to rail travel.

Then the private company gets paid to take control of everything like ticket prices and food. That means they take our money through taxation then take our money through tickets. To me that is simply unfair and I really don't want that to happen to the NHS

Explain this then ? and if labour staued in power in 2010 how much worse it would of been ?

Firstly yeah the deficit has been reduced but it has been reduced by taking from the poor and giving to the rich.

How can anyone say that an increase in just over £10Billion in 7 years is enough to fund our NHS.

Yes our minimum wage has increased, partly due to inflation and even if it has increased it is still behind other major countries in Europe.

My username should be CCFC67, because i guess i am 30 years older than you. I am older enough to remember British Rail and it was shit.Trust me, there were no tears when it was privatised. Strike, strikes and more strikes, it never ran on time because nobody cared. Anyway, the train issue is a London issue, i catch a train twice a year if that......Sorry i need to subsidise that as well.

The NHS is one of the biggest employers in the world but run by people who wouldn't be qualified to run a McDonalds franchise, but its sooooo important to keep it run by the governments, because governments are so good at running businesses !!!!!

Don't really see what's wrong with my username I'm a city season ticket holder born in 1997 that's all. Yes they may have been shit in the past but this is now and the current way in which they are run simply makes a mockery of us normal people

its only the past you have to go on though.and nationalisation was shit.
as for this 37billion . if it was a revenue stream being diverted from elsewhere fair enough. otherwise its a made up gimmick. Labour were miles behind so what do you do be sensible or offer the earth. ?

Re: A vote for May

Fri Jun 02, 2017 6:46 pm

The trouble with "vote for equality" is that the world isn't built like that. If everybody went to university and got a degree, what value would that degree then hold? With so much competition for the same jobs, then the wages on offer would decrease, or certainly not hold the value they once did.

The same with benefits. If everybody was entitled to benefits, why bother working when you know either developing a sudden condition or getting pregnant will entitle you to a free house?

The world is tiered to benefit those who work hard. I've worked 14 years to date and never had a single day off sick. The days that I have been ill I've used leave. Some would call me a fool but I was raised to work hard and show pride in my work. Granted I'm lucky to be healthy and come from a good background, but there are too many people who want everything for free, or they want someone else to pay for it.

I constantly see Labour and Tory supporters argue over who caused the large debt increase. Labour supporters point to it increasing massively under the Tories rein, but fail to recognise (in my view) that the Tories have made massive cuts to the government expenditure, and without these it would have increased further. This is the result of having to subsidise those less fortunate, or adverse to hard work, depending on your viewpoint.

Just my two pence!

So i guess you are a Keynesian rather than from the Austrian school.

Out of interest what do you want to do when you graduate. Not taking the piss, my eldest daughter is toying with a similar idea and would rather her do an MBA is she wanted to go into business/banking

hope both your daughter and this 97 guy find gainful employment in the future.
but my own thoughts are way too many in higher education for the amount of jobs available that require those qualifications.

Personally I am looking to go into finance and investment bank, at this current stage I am looking to do a master in that area

I'd say university is truly an amazing experience, the social aspects are incredibly as I have made loads of great friends

However I would say it all depends on the course you do, currently as you have to pay for uni doing a course that doesn't give you further job prospects is just a waste of money

I have to say that since this Election Campaign has begun and Theresa has shown her distinct limitations, I can't imagine anyone on this forum voting for her. Many might have different views to me but everyone comes across as far too intelligent to vote for a wooden doll ..........surely???

Quite right Abbott is a greasy, thicko but the other two are men of gravitas. Our Jem should have ditched Diane a long time ago and should never have allowed her near the cameras. McDonnell on the other hand always sounds to me as someone who speaks sense. You can't tell me you haven't been disappointed how poor May has been in this campaign Wez. As I said in another post this election is between a Strong & Stable Corbyn and a Weak & Wobbly jelly. Going into the country's most important negotiations for decades, I'm clear (to quote Theresa) who I prefer

MCdonell wanted to scrap MI5.special squad.and disarm our police not so long ago ffs.
these 3 have life long beliefs they have temporarily put on hold ..basically to con the public.
as for Corbyn i thought his 1 and only redeeming deature was he was firm in everything he said..if he said it he meant it..even 30 years later. 1 sniff of power and he is reversing ALL HIS IDEALS faster than italian tanks in WW2

I must say May has been shocking......I guessed she was awkward, geeky and just a boring non telegenic older lady, but wow she is terrible. In a normal election cycle i wouldn't vote for her but then labour have put up the most unelectable crew since Foot. Can't have Plaid the party of Waaayles, nor the libs who just look lost;UKIP are a one trick pony.

So somehow its the tories. I'll say it quietly like most will do on Thursday
