They have tried before and tax receipts went down. The same thing would happen again, people and businesses will move to another country, the tax money will still be needed so once again the poor will pay the price. The one accurate thing with this picture are the numerous "tax" words alongside the Labour word, because that is what they have always been known as, the party who will tax everybody to the max.

Two inaccurate replies, even putting it back up to 28% its still one of the cheapest in the G7 countries and most G20 countries.Where exactly would they go?

You beat me to it !!

As long as we're at a better or, at least, competitive rate to other countries why would these "wonderful" employers/companies move !!?? Re-location of a business/organisation is extremely expensive so unless they have a massive incentive to move then it just won't happen.

Just one thing. Wages in most areas of the UK have not moved under the Tories/coalition, meaning that the standard of living has significantly decreased. That is not replicated in many other leading economies.

The Tories are artificially sustaining a weak economy by holding back wage rises. That is simply playground economics: make a business/organisation profitable/sustainable by not paying employees what they're worth !! Now I'm a simple man, but to me if a business/organisation can't afford to pay a decent wage to it's employees then it's business model isn't strong enough and is surviving artificially

I recognise that I'm over simplifying things but this rubbish about businesses leaving our shores if we ask them to pay the country what it's due is simply a myth :banghead:

As far as I am aware the EU average is the same ( roughly) as the world average, around 23%. If the UK is looking to attract new companies after Brexit, higher rates will not be a great incentive. While our corporation tax is low, there are plenty of other business taxes that have to be taken into account as well. Also the difficulties in being able to accurately forecast how much will be raised from corporation tax is a notorious and well known problem, as there are so many factors that have to be taken into account. There is no way a government can confidently say that the will get an extra x amount of money by increasing this tax, because if the economy stalls, they could end up with a completely different figure. It is not easy to forecast how much profit a business will make in the future. The Labour party would know this better than anyone else having previous experience.

Neither answered my question but by far the biggest threat to any gov.of whatever colour losing revenue is the brexit deal or lack of one.British farmers are shitting themselves at the prospect of paying a 25% tariff on a market that represents 48% of their export business.

I never thought I would agree with Nick Clegg but when he said whatever economic deal we get will not be as good as the one we've got now he makes a point thats hard to argue against.

Did you know that half of the EU or EU affiliated counties have LOWER corporate tax rate than the UK ? Half !!!!!

The higher the tax rate goes you the less the treasury collect...... The only "suckers" who pay all their taxes are those on PAYE and that's us.

If you have the quantity of cash that the government are after, you have the cash to employ expensive accountants to reduce your contribution.

Its a painful fact, but people or corporations don't want to pay tax. Labour wants to raise extra revenue through taxes, but it will be through loans and bonds. I hope all you 25 year old are aware of this, because you'll be paying for them until you pass away.

Most of our major corporations are off-shored in the EU.....Boots are in Luxemburg (wonder where the EU president is from) the Caymans and Gibralta. The EU won't get tough, they are coining it in. Tax avoidance is a matter of fact in the modern world, to me 20% or 27% of fcuk all is fcuk all.

This has been such a dishonest election campaign, no party wants to talk truthfully. The country is skint, so borrow more to make thing better appears to be the slogans from all parties. Yes, we can print money, but so have all the other major economies so we are not gaining an advantage other than screwing the developing countries.

Even during the boom years labour borrowed and borrowed on PFI, so much so that austerity is a cause of Blair and Brown rather than dodgy mortgages for poor folk in America and a stupid corrupt financial sector

Should be added that if it was easy to know how much you are going to raise from coroporation tax over the next few years, they might want to share the information with us so that we can buy shares in those companies that are guaranteed to make some nice profits. Obviously tax avoidance and tax evasion are two different things, and no government is going to beat tax avoidance easily, as it is not illegal and companies pay clever accountants a lot of money to get away with paying the minimum amount possible.

too many farmers are now not farming (in the way we think) as they are just taking their high subsidies for keeping their hedges trimmed and are being paid to let their fields return to a natural state,ie,not used for farming but to be environmentally friendly. some farms will go to the wall ( mainly the ones on tv moaning about Brexit )but the majority will start reusing farm land and start producing what we need instead of imports.

you dont grow carrots..you grow foxes and brambles that people might or might not enjoy seeing. depending on how far off the beaten track your farm is.

If agricultural land wasn't so pricey I'd be tempted to buy some and grow lettuce as we seem to rely on Spain !!!
Joking aside that funding is a good screw eh ?
