As far as I am aware the EU average is the same ( roughly) as the world average, around 23%. If the UK is looking to attract new companies after Brexit, higher rates will not be a great incentive. While our corporation tax is low, there are plenty of other business taxes that have to be taken into account as well. Also the difficulties in being able to accurately forecast how much will be raised from corporation tax is a notorious and well known problem, as there are so many factors that have to be taken into account. There is no way a government can confidently say that the will get an extra x amount of money by increasing this tax, because if the economy stalls, they could end up with a completely different figure. It is not easy to forecast how much profit a business will make in the future. The Labour party would know this better than anyone else having previous experience.

The higher the tax rate goes you the less the treasury collect...... The only "suckers" who pay all their taxes are those on PAYE and that's us.
If you have the quantity of cash that the government are after, you have the cash to employ expensive accountants to reduce your contribution.
Its a painful fact, but people or corporations don't want to pay tax. Labour wants to raise extra revenue through taxes, but it will be through loans and bonds. I hope all you 25 year old are aware of this, because you'll be paying for them until you pass away.
Most of our major corporations are off-shored in the EU.....Boots are in Luxemburg (wonder where the EU president is from) the Caymans and Gibralta. The EU won't get tough, they are coining it in. Tax avoidance is a matter of fact in the modern world, to me 20% or 27% of fcuk all is fcuk all.
This has been such a dishonest election campaign, no party wants to talk truthfully. The country is skint, so borrow more to make thing better appears to be the slogans from all parties. Yes, we can print money, but so have all the other major economies so we are not gaining an advantage other than screwing the developing countries.
Even during the boom years labour borrowed and borrowed on PFI, so much so that austerity is a cause of Blair and Brown rather than dodgy mortgages for poor folk in America and a stupid corrupt financial sector

If agricultural land wasn't so pricey I'd be tempted to buy some and grow lettuce as we seem to rely on Spain !!!
Joking aside that funding is a good screw eh ?
