A forum for all things Cardiff City

Now that it seems very likely that Joe Ledley will no longer be returning to Cardiff City, maybe people will remember another "holding midfielder" we have. Huws seemed to do well on loan at Ipswich Town, but does anybody see him playing much of a role next season? He showed some promise going forward too last season with Ipswich Town.
Ledley/Gunnarsson/Huws would probably be too much in that holding midfield role.

Add O'keefe to that too who I think would be excellent alongside Gunnarson in a 4-2-3-1

i think okeefe and huws will be sold

O'Keefe and Neil Warnock are not compatible after their Crystal Palace spat
Only one winner there, so it's bye bye to O'Keefe
Huws? That's still to be decided and another I feel will be at pre-season training for a 'review'

If we are serious about pushing for a top 6 spot I don't believe Huws would be playing a major role for us. If we are continuing to cut costs and happy enough just to survive at this level, then he could have a part to play.

I'm getting a little tired of hearing about holding midfield players,it's an attacking midfielder we so desperately need

Does anyone know what actually happened at Palace?

NW probably wanted his wages

I'd give Huws a good preseason and another go , can always sell him in January if it does not work out

Fully expect both to move on. Huws doesn't fit and Okeefe doesn't seem to be wanted by Warnock.
Might get a fee for Huws though after his loan spell seemed to go well.

Would O'Keefe get a fee ?
Huws its difficult to assess - Haven't really seen enough of him

We need both. We have 2 centre mids at present, Gunnar and Ralls. Most sides play 3, so we need 5, minimum, for squad strength. We could probably play Halford and Hoilett in 2 of the spots, so we need at 2 more bodies, as Hoilett will be used wide predominantly.

I think Gunnarsson, Huws and Halford will remain, whilst O'Keefe is moved on.
We really need an attacking midfielder now, because I can't see Ralls being our only player there.

As said above, a holding midfielder is not a priority. Gunnarsson is the best player for that role. We need an attacking engine to allow Gunnarsson to focus on the breaking down of play and winning the ball. Huws is overrated. Some people harping on about how class he's been at Ipswich. Ipswich still finished lower than us and he was awful with us. Time for him to move on.

not sure id call Emyr Huws a holding midfield player.
the boy has good touch. vision and an eye for a goal . but so far hasnt really done enough on a regular basis at any club.
id love it to happen here for us for him and for Wales. but doubt it will. if an offer comes in and the interested club get near his Cardiff wages i think he will be gone.

Huws always plays well for Wales, but when I saw him play the whole game for Ipswich v. Forest he totally disappeared.
I'm not sure Warnock likes players of that type.
Ironically, O'Keefe is a real Warnock player, a battler. I don't know what happened at Palace, but it should be sorted.
Keep O'Keefe and sell Huws.
We still need a creative number 10.....Wes Hoolahan kind of player.
