BBC Debate

Great debate.. but who got the better of it?

Re: BBC Debate

Wed May 31, 2017 8:15 pm

I was going to put the Green Party. They had to deal with almost no pressure or ambushing though. I think considering how many interruptions he had to deal with I think Corbyn just edged it. I was surprised at how quiet Wood was. I'm not a fan of Tim Farron either but that closing argument was hilarious. Had to applaud that. "Bake Off is on BBC Two next. Go on, make yourself a brew!"

I'm very glad Corbyn did decide to attend despite May not doing it. I think her absence made the Tories look awful. You could tell Rudd hated every minute of that. Especially the bit where she had to argue why May would make such a good leader.

May also claiming she isn't attending because she was too busy focusing on dealing with the Brexit negotiations... but then being asked why she called a General Election just weeks after triggering Article 50 if that was the case?

A very interesting debate. It's a shame there was a lot of interruption. The host should have been harder on cutting that out. Ruined some decent chat.

I felt Angus Robertson held very well! But also Corbyn had it quite easy I feel. Amber Rudd was just a punch bag for long periods.. very enjoyable

I'm not going to tick a box for the sake of ticking a box as I did'nt watch it. I've read their manifesto's, hear them bickering every week in the House of Commons, and am not really interested in slanging matches where they keep going over the same old ground. I will vote depending on policies, who I think will get the best Brexit deal and not on who can shout the loudest.

Crowd didn't take to Paul Nuttall at all. He's a racist, and an idiot. I'd be surprised if there's a UKiP left after this election.

Caroline Lucas was the best performer on the night but the big winner was JC simply because of May's cowardice in not turning up. There is a narrative gaining traction that if she is too scared to debate JC face to face then how the hell is she going to get us a good deal with the ruthless EU over BREXIT?

It is a serious question and I personally have no faith whatsoever in her ability to represent the UK.

Yes. That's why I have not ticked any of the boxes, the tick for Conservatives is not mine by the way. I am now trying to avoid all the debating and programmes like Question Time etc., I think I've heard all the arguments and every time I listen to these politicians now, they are just going over the same old things. I am bored with the Conservatives telling me only they can negotiate a good Brexit deal, bored with Fallon who cannot accept the result of a democratic ballot, and bored with Corbyn and his impossible pledges. Be glad when it's over, and as I've said before, whoever gets in will make very little difference to the average man in the street.

Well if you are as clever as you think you are then you won't back a leader who is too scared to debate her rivals face to face. Frankly Tusk and Junker will ruthlessly expose her cowardice when the BREXIT negotiations get under way in the next 2 weeks.

As Angus Robertson pointed out, there have been terrorist incidents not linked to Islam. But every time the word terror was mentioned, Paul Nuttal jumped straight into attacking Islam, and the Muslim community. He's a blatant racist

Not sure who "won", but there's only one party who has lost, and that was the missing Theresa May. Lost by a country mile

I would have expected better than that from you. The 'average' working class man will be much worse off under the Tories as they always are as they have to find the money from somewhere to cut top rates of personal and corporation tax.

Re: BBC Debate

Farron did well tonight and his "Bake Off" jibe at the end was priceless but overall, and yet again, Jeremy Corbyn came across as the most personable and likeable. Agree or disagree with his politics but he is making a real fist of this election campaign.

Going to be an interesting final week.

How can a leader to scared to argue with her opposition going to be strong enough to discuss Brexit what a terrible attitude she got I'm not surprised by that but this is what is expected all leaders turn up and she doesn't as she thinks she has won it already

I would class myself as average, and I've never been better off under Labour government. If I had, I would be voting for them.

I think there is reason to be worried. Everyone thinks these acts only happen to other people, but could happen absolutely anywhere and could affect any of us on here.
