Players I would be happy for us to sign

Sun May 28, 2017 7:46 pm

Johnny Hayes
Joe Ledley
Callum Paterson
Danny Ward
+ 1 attacking midfielder

Add to those Idriss Saadi, Rhys Healey & an improving Mark Harris & we COULD be in with a shout of the play-offs, especially if we can hold on to Manga.

Thoughts?

i dont think we will go for hayes again, i may be wrong but the fact he just signed a new deal and the club wasnt willing to up their last bid by 200k to get him i cant see us paying the extra needed now hes signed a longer contract. ledley patterson and ward will all sign imo we need an attacking midfielder and we need a flying winger also imo and a cb if manga goes

I agree Hayes won't be coming and at nearly 30 we shouldn't be paying nearly £1m for him. He looks great in the SPL but it is a different story in the Championship especially for older players.

yeah spot on, who would you like as a attacking midfielder and winger? we must be looking at these positions as we dont get enough goals from wide players, that watkins boy would have been a good signing but cant see him coming to us now

Danny Ward is a winger/striker type player. I'd like to sign all the above mentioned and maybe a cheaky little loan bid for Tom Lawrence again?

We desperately need 2 keepers as well in my opinion. :bluescarf:

I'm not aware of who is available but take the point on Hayes. What looks good in Scotland doesn't always translate to the Championship. Though I still think he's a Warnock type player. Whoever we bring in definitely need to add considerably to our scoring power.
In Warnock we trust! :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

i think newcastle are in for lawrence, ward played all but one game up front last yr so I'm not sure he will play as a winger much although our wingers dont provide enough threat so u never know

Rotherham put him up top for them mate, at Huddersfield & Leeds as a youngster he was a winger.

i read it was under warnock that he got put up top but last season he only played once on the wing from what i read, not saying he cant do it

He was 100% a striker at Rotherham mate, what I'm saying is at the other two clubs he was a winger. For me, that would make it better for us if he can operate in two positions effectively, I think that is what Warnock is going for, players that can be utilised in different positions.

That Marley Watkins would be great but I doubt it. A good number 10 will be hard to come by & I'm sure Warnock will have identified who he wants and we'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'd also like to see Idriss Saadi given a chance too.

norms, some good posts there and I broadly agree with your thoughts

The info I was given (by someone close who is involved with the club through the finance world) some time ago, is that Saadi will not be coming back and that was effectively agreed before he went out on loan

No one seems sure what the issue was (something he did or just the club doing what it's done to others?) but it hasn't gone unnoticed that Neil Warnock doesn't really include him in his comments about those City players out on loan

I find it a little baffling, as all I see is Saadi knocking in goals for every club he has played for (can't count City, as he's never really had a shout) and I'm sure that if Neil warnock thought he was worth a punt next season we would have heard more by now?

Just makes me think the decision has been made and NW is either comfortable or simply accepts the situation as it is :ayatollah:

That's a shame Chris if that's the case as I'm of the same opinion as you, I see him banging in the goals and he seems to have a lot of pace & is very direct.

If he's a goner then I hope we can get some sort of fee so we can get another striker or two as I think we need at least 3 decent strikers for the long hard season in the Championship.

I agree and it is an odd one :thumbright:

A couple of keepers (although Murphy is pretty steady), some strikers who know where the opposing net is (which is surely a pre-condition for anyone wishing to play in that position but something City seem to have lacked for a long time?) and a midfielder to compliment the refreshed Gunnarsson and improving Ralls are the order of the day?

I'm confident we will see a similar rise in results to that which we saw on NW's arrival and his abrasive approach to those who don't play ball with him will see a squad/team hungry to keep him (and by default the attending fans) happy in the season ahead :ayatollah:

yeah watkins would be a good signing but looks like hes getting interest from premiership clubs, we def need a winger with goals and pace in them and we need another striker who can take the burden from zohore, in regards to saadi i think warnock is looking at fred and saying well he scored as many as saadi and tbh i think ward whos played in this league will be moreof a safe bet plus ward is only 25
