On Cardiff being linked with a move for Neil Etheridge

The Bluebirds have been linked with a move for Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

Here’s what Warnock had to say on a potential deal.

NEIL WARNOCK:


"We spoke to the club in January about Neil but I wasn’t prepared to pay for the fee. I leave it to the keeping coach, Dibble advises us what we should do so we leave it to him.”

Cardiff City are looking to sign Walsall goalkeeper Neil Etheridge when his current deal with Walsall ends this summer according to HITC.

Neil Warnock has previously stated that he is unable to sign Scotland's Allan McGregor - who is currently on loan from Premier League side Hull City - so a permanent basis is unlikely due to Cardiff City's financial reasons.

"I met Mehmet (Dalman) and Ken (Choo) this week and I’m going to fly out to see Vincent (Tan) towards the end of May. It’s okay on the phone but when you want to talk about numerous things regarding club it has to be face to face, I’m going with Ken and a meeting should clarify a lot of things."


"He has the final say on a lot of things because he owns the club. It’s the earliest I can go and I want Ken to come with me, he can speak the language if we have to go into great depths about certain things and he can’t go until the end of the month."

Iceland midfielder Aron Gunnarsson could also be rested ahead of international duty, and Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock is expected to hand a few fringe players an opportunity.

Defender Matt Connolly, goalkeeper Brian Murphy and wingers Mark Harris and Craig Noone could all start.

Yeah I think NW has made it pretty clear, the contract seems to be a token gesture by the club.
