Cardiff City's forgotten man Adam Le Fondre opens up on future after loan spell at Bolton Wanderers

Thursday 4th May 2017

The striker has not played for the Bluebirds since January 2015

Adam Le Fondre has opened up on his future after his second loan spell with newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers

The striker enjoyed a hugely successful stint with the Trotters — his second spell at the club on loan from Cardiff — having helped Phil Parkinson's men secure promotion into the Championship.

His current contract with the Bluebirds expires in the summer, and the striker admits he is not expecting to be offered a new deal by the Bluebirds.

"I don’t suppose Cardiff are going to renew my contract – but obviously Bolton will be my first port of call," Le Fondre told the Bolton News .

"I came here to score goals, I did that. We got promoted and that was the main thing.

"I have made no bones that if there is something there for me this summer I’ll sign it but it has to be right for both parties.

"It depends what happens now with the powers that be. I have reaped the rewards of coming back to Bolton. It has revitalised me."

The 30-year-old forward moved to South Wales from Reading in the 2014 summer transfer window, scoring three goals in 25 appearances before being sent out on loan to Bolton in January 2015.

His form significantly improved with the Trotters where he netted eight times in 17 games for the club before spending the 2015-16 season on loan at Wolves where he scored just three times in 30 appearances.

He started the current campaign on loan at Wigan before joining Bolton for a second time in January where he has gone on to score six times in 19 matches, helping the club clinch promotion from League One.

His last Cardiff appearance came 837 days ago against Norwich City in January 2015 and has been surplus to requirements in the Welsh capital ever since.

Could Le Fondre have a Cardiff future?

To think our senior frontline could have been Adam Le Fondre and Rickie Lambert  £50kpw between them and not a goal in sight :o Indeed the only bigger challenge would have been getting them fit  .

This nonsense must never happen again.

Christ if we resigned him I would consider my position as a supporter. We've signed many with less talent but very few with less guts.
