" NEIL WARNOCK UNHAPPY THE WAY NEW CONTRACT WAS HANDLED "
BBC
May 2017
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock is unhappy with the way in which top scorer Kenneth Zohore's new contract was handled by the club.
Zohore's three-year extension was announced shortly before Friday night's 2-0 defeat against Newcastle.
The 23-year-old had been at Cardiff City Stadium hours earlier than team-mates in order to put pen to paper.
NEIL WARNOCK:
"He's been at the ground since half past four so no wonder he's knackered," said Warnock.
The Bluebirds boss added: "I'm disappointed about that.
"He shouldn't have been in until half six, and the game should have come first really.
"It was something I wasn't aware of and it won't happen again."

This is the kind of detail NW has to sort out with the running of the club. Common sense should have prevailed there was no need for the player to be messing around with this just before an important fixture.

True Tony but does this need to be a public issue?I think not.

Hmmmmm....
The first small criticism by Warnock of the club?
Needs to be nipped in the bud quickly I hope.

Important fixture? Nothing game for us. Honestly don't see the issue here. If a grown man can't be at the stadium from 16:30 for a 19:45 kick off and it somehow affects his game then I'd suggest the player has an issue.

That is the difference between Neil warnock and other managers before him, he demands the best performance on every occasion.
To those who say it a "no nothing game" then maybe they should think long and hard about what NW is trying to achieve at the club, and for me, EVERY game is an important one.
I agree with NW that it was ludicrous to be talking about contracts before an important match, it is about maximum performance on the field as that is what players are paid a fortune to do. Hanging around from 4.30 is very poor indeed and i for one support the idea that players should be rested and in peak performance for every game.
NW will take us to the promised land again, but this time we will be better prepared to stay there.

Personally, I think Neil Warnock has a point and (as usual) is just setting his stall for the future. He's just being open and honest with his opinion that Zohore's contract could/should have been sorted at a better time...
I doubt (as someone assumes above) that Neil Warnock saw the Newcastle fixture as a (quote)
"Nothing game" and I also doubt he's going to have a major fallout with the men at the top because of it...
Most (and there are always some deliberate dissenters) agree that Neil Warnock sort of knows what he is doing and that with the right backing he is more than capable of taking this club forward, so if he feels that things should be done in a better, more professional way that doesn't interfere with his preferred match day preparations then that is how it should be...
In Warnock we trust...until, like others before him, we find something petty to bash him with, of course!

It was Warnock himself who said his target was hitting the magic 50 and after that some experimentation would take place. Now I'm getting bashed for saying Newcastle was a nothing game? Warnocks target was hit and nothing was to be gained against Newcastle th st is simply the facts and what I meant.

Knackered because he was at the ground half 4? These players ain't half pampered! Try a normal job with the living wage they want to!

What a pile of rubbish......
At the ground from 4:30pm? The poor, poor man.
People in the football world live in a different world to the rest of us.

I understand that but most of the 20,000 people who turned up wanted to see a performance from both sides and (to a large extent) they got it. Newcastle had something to aim for, specifically the Championship title, and City had a duty to maintain the integrity of the game, which I believe they did...unlike Huddersfield, who may have directly affected the relegation places by their poor actions
I don't see the Huddersfield game as being a "nothing" game either. Huddersfield are likely to do the same as last week as they build up to the Play-offs and City have a chance of a top half finish, if they win and Villa lose with a two goal swing!

Think that Warnock is just saying that match-days should be kept clear for the football. Other stuff, (like signing contracts), can be sorted on non-match days. Remember reading, a while back, that Alex Furguson always kept match-days clear.

I think Warnock is right we play one game in a week and they do the deal on the day of a game really stupid . They had plenty of time to do this deal totally unfair as Zohore is very young and his mind must have been all over the place.
There is no such thing as a nothing game if you have no pride when playing for the club that pays you then u r in the wrong game or at the wrong club.
It amazes me some people on here having a go at Warnock really?

Mentioning their wages is the first port of call for anyone who can't raise a reasoned argument. The players earn what they earn and we shouldn't be bitter, so long as they do their jobs. To equate their wages to our own is a little churlish and to use it as a reason to 'bash' them when the manager thinks they should be concentrating on the matter in hand, i.e. a game of football, smacks of more than a little jealousy...
Public outburst or not, Neil Warnock has a point when he says the player should have been concentrating on preparing for the game in hand versus Newcastle United...and his performance seemed to reflect that he wasn't on top of it!

How can you be knackered sitting on your arse and signing a piece of paper. Sounds like many politicians.

Spot on Chris.
The other one is - they earn £xxxx a week they shouldn't be tired.
I've never understood how your bank balance can dictate if you tire during a game etc.
