Potential free agent goalkeeper for next season?

Tue May 02, 2017 1:52 pm

So I just read that John ruddy is going to be released by Norwich at the end of the season, wouldn't mind him as number 1 next season, thoughts?

So Norwich with parachute payments can't afford him,but we can.

Would be very happy with Ruddy as between him and Murphy I would say thats two very solid goalkeepers, plus maybe a loan from league one as I'm still not sure on Ben Wilson yet still needs to play regularly at a lower level, for his age he hasn't played many games professionally.

Ruddy is at a decent age at 30 as well, most goalie's go on at least another 5 or so years, but im sure there's going to plenty of clubs after him but with Warnock in charge that gives a lot of players more reason to play for us, as he has said himself.

Lot's of keepers out there - Danny Ward on a loan to start off with .

NW - Has his contacts to get a keeper who he may have worked with before ,

NW has already said that we wouldn't be able to afford to keep McGregor. Ruddy's wages must be in the same bracket as him!

What Ruddys wages are is irrelevant as he will be out of contract so as of 30 June his earning are zero. His wage will be whatever someone will offer him.

McGregor I believe is under contract next season so that is where the problem lies.

Possibly but as a recent English international he will still put a high price on his services.

Personally I think he'd only take a cut if there was a lack of interest in his signature which I can't see happening.

I'd like to see us get a permanent number 1 instead of a loan however Danny Ward would be an interesting target.
