Peter Whittingham contract expires next month, but its a Premier League Contract.
Neil Warnock has a small Championship Budget.
What would you offer Peter Whittingham or would you just let him go.
If you want Whitts to stay, then how much would you pay him?

I'd like him to stay , he's the best passer at the club , stil feel he has something to offer , give him 1 more year
Tue May 02, 2017 7:43 am
He should stay for another year.

I remember being unable to contemplate a Cardiff side without Joey Dwyer but his time had come and now so's Whitts's

If the club can afford to pay the likes of Lambert,John,Fred,Saadi and a few more then surely they can afford 7/10 grand for a City legend who has still something to offer for at least one more year.

My opinion is he has to stay and we should build the team round him
Tue May 02, 2017 9:09 am
Stay.
Tue May 02, 2017 9:17 am
I think he's still got quality to offer. Maybe not every game but he is by far the best passer at the club. Hopefully he stays for another 12 months

Can you all stop this sentimental nonsense, Whitts has been good but is now past it and does not bring anything to the midfield. We need 2 new midfielders who can run, tackle and create. As for building a team around him come of it, wake up and smell the coffee

stats suggest otherwise , he has the most assists from any of our midfield , he's the only midfield player we have with any creativity

Definitely worth a years contract at £8k.
His vision and passing is second to none at Cardiff. Can create something from nothing and we all know his set pieces create goals.
If we don't offer him a new contract it'll probably come back and bight us on the arse next season as they'll be Championship clubs queuing up to sign him.

Leeds United fans on Twitter: Whittingham, Mowatt and Bartley for club captain
Tuesday 02 May 2017
Round up what Leeds United fans are discussing on social media.
@thomas_wilson04. Peter Whittingham out of contract in the summer, I’d be all over that. #lufc
@maccabruno. I actually miss Alex mowatt in our team , could have done with a couple of his screamers from 30 yards with that left peg. #lufc #mot #ALAW
@kirky0110. When do applications for new season tickets start? #lufc
@dan_jones85. Love the fact that fans of teams in playoffs are more happy that Leeds aren’t in playoffs, than there own team been in them! #lufc
@IdlePastimes. Anyhoo....get Monk signed, then Bartley and make him club captain for me #lufc
@TotalRumours. Monk brought the majority of the current stars to the club, sign him up and the stars will likely sign up as well. It’s a no brainer #lufc

Also our highest scoring midfielder

Give him another two year contract.
Tue May 02, 2017 1:00 pm
In my opinion its best for both us and him if he moves on now.
Whitts can be a starter elsewhere and no doubt get a bigger wage and probably a signing on fee. I think its pretty clear he isn't really in Warnock first team plans and I don't believe keeping a player for sentiment is a good idea.
A legend but unless we plan on changing manager or Whitts is looking to take a bit part role on a low wage then I don't see how he can stay.
I do think this has dragged on far to long though.
Tue May 02, 2017 1:14 pm
But at what cost? Wages
Tue May 02, 2017 1:15 pm
I would like him to stay and people think we can replace him? Nonsense, 33 and contributed to 14 goals in 36 games is a good return, 7 goals and 7 assists.

Forever Blue wrote:But at what cost? Wages
Well the contract supposedly offered is half what our other players earn yet he scores and creates twice as much...
Tue May 02, 2017 3:10 pm
He doesn't fit into Warnock's style of play Whitts is a possession type player and with the his body language on Friday I think its time to say goodbye.
Tue May 02, 2017 3:24 pm
Surely someone of that quality who can play and then help with coaching is a no brainer
Tue May 02, 2017 3:51 pm
Really hope he stays. He needs to play a bit less often and have players with 'legs' around him (not Halford!).
Still a class act and with a few quality forwards signed he could even improve. He needs a willing, intelligent runner off the ball to deliver those telling passes.
Tue May 02, 2017 4:36 pm
Stay. Maybe player coach. It would be good if he could pass on his accuracy and set piece techniques.
Tue May 02, 2017 8:55 pm
why do people assume he wants to coach, does he even have the personality or ability to be a good coach.
Tue May 02, 2017 9:27 pm
Simple answer to WHITTS - If you have the chance to stay on £10-£15K a week ( half the wage ??? ) and are happy in Cardiff -
What is the problem ??? - must have saved money over the last 2 seasons to be happy in later life ????
Or is this down to the club ???
Tue May 02, 2017 10:05 pm
Unfortunately, he will decline further next season. I thank him for giving us great moments and some memorable goals, but we really need fresh blood in our midfield if we are going to challenge next season. Thank you Whitts, but it's a goodbye from me.

Stay if he's willing to take a pay cut!
People forget how good he has been in a Cardiff City shirt over the last 10 years! Not as good due to getting older but still a very good player. He could do what Steven Gerrard done in his final years at Liverpool. Play in a deeper role and use that gifted left foot for long crosses, through balls for our wingers and strikers (Stevie G right footed of course). Terrific record with penalties and still a decent free kick taker.
He should be rewarded with another year at CCFC. One of the most loyal players we've ever had to play for Cardiff City!

Was, he is past his best, he is a luxury we can't afford...

Sorry but great servant to Cardiff but I.don't see anything anymore that puts him a class above other midfielders. Light in the tackle if he even goes in for the tackle. And as for those quoting stats they.mean nothing in the middle.
