Ched Evans has completed a medical at Sheffield United ahead of his proposed move from local rivals Chesterfield, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News HQ understands a deal of more than £500,000 is expected to be completed early THIS week.

Sky sources reported last week that the clubs were in talks over the transfer of the 28-year-old striker back to his former club.

Evans was released by Sheffield United after he was convicted of rape in 2012.

That conviction was quashed by the Court of Appeal last April and he was found not guilty at a retrial in October. He had served two-and-a-half years of a five-year prison sentence
